How Anthony Edwards & Timberwolves are slaying giants

Anthony Edwards scored eight of his 38 points in overtime, and the Minnesota Timberwolves sent the Boston Celtics to their first loss of the season with a 114-109 win on Monday night. The identity forming in this new version of the Wolves is on the defensive end of the floor.

  1. Legacy game for Ant.

Granted, it's one game in the regular season, but for a franchise that has been struggling for so long, Ant is totally changing the mentality in Minny. Excited to see Ant's continued ascension.

  2. As a wolves fan I've been ready for the Kat experience to end he's such a crybaby man . gotta move on this summer go get a # 2 who don't go ghost in the playoffs

  3. Rudy has actually been the more valuable of the two big men and thats even after his 2-11 performance from the free throw line. He doesn't pick up stupid fouls and isn't trying to do too much on offense. We still gave up to much for him but he is starting to make up for some of it with his solid play of D.

  4. Let’s go back to when towns first came to the timberwolves. He was a number one pick and really our best scoring option. He has definitely regressed over the years. Now that he has gotten his max contract he has gotten lazy. A positive thing I can say though is that towns does not need to be the number one option anymore, so he is going to have his streaky nights and that’s okay because we’re not relying on him solely. the Timberwolves have changed their identity to a defensive first team. When you have enough talent, that’s what all the championship teams do. We are also currently number one in the NBA on Def. Rudy Gobert is the number one defensive player as well in defensive ratings. What’s nice is everyone knows Anthony Edwards is the future and we could definitely get 2 to 3 first round picks from the Knicks because they have a lot right now. My guess is that he gets traded before the deadline because his role is going to be reduced because everyone is realizing now that we do not need him to win. It was clear last night. Wolves also have lots of depth with Naz & Garza. I would love to see it work with towns in Minnesota. The problem is he is not worth a max contract. This year will really be our last I feel with Towns and keeping this group together. “Unless we win a Championship.” Which is the goal. 🙏With Towns on our roster and everyone healthy I think we are a top-five team in the NBA. The other thing is because Towns got hurt last year and our team was a lot different. We were not able to assess what we have for the future. What makes me apprehensive about trading towns? Is we all know? He is very talented, but he seems to only play good when he wants to. He also complains way too much and rubs off on the rest of the team. I just remember when he played good when he was healthy and made a good impact against the grizzlies in the playoffs. We need that towns back. With our current team this is the best option for us right now to see what we have.

  5. Towns has been terrible this season. He’s the only guy on the team who doesn’t understand (or hasn’t bought into) his role. He constantly whines, doesn’t take responsibility when he commits a foul, and he’s a step slow on D against a lot of the league’s PFs. Towns is a better player than Naz Reid, but Naz is a better fit. You said it yourselves—it was a blessing for the Wolves when KAT fouled out. It shored up the MN D and stopped the Wolves from KAT’s silly reach in fouls.

It’s a sad thing, honestly, because KAT is a stud player. This Wolves team just isn’t the right fit.

  6. The Starters! I thought you guys died lol
Glad to see you're still talking hoops 👌

  7. they were always great players, they just need some good group therapy ( and individual) and they actually have a chance 🙂

  8. I think they are too inconsistent.. Boston didn’t play a great games, but the wolves are to prone to let downs. They will win 40-45 games be the 6th or 7th seed and get bounced round 1 by the warriors or suns who can shoot gobert off the floor.
