Being in lottery pick mode vs. very dangerous play-in team mode isn’t the worst thing in the world

  2. adelphotes

    On track for 75-7

Totally winnable, spurs don’t know how to close…yet

    GSG!

  3. Then-Activity7226

Sucks watching the team blow large leads but the tank rolls on.

  4. Tyranitator

Any delusions about the playoffs are out the window now. Here’s hoping we draft a true PG and a solid 3&D wing

  5. ToinouAngel

Well, fuck. Learning not to choke a game is going to be a process.

  6. Askme4musicreccspls

Some good signs from the lads in a tough game. At least from what I saw in 2nd half and a bit. A nicer whistle and we win that.

  7. BallPlastic3792

It’s crazy that as a rookie Wemby has so much impact. As soon as he leaves the team crumbles on both ends. GG just happy to watch a good game.

  8. paxusromanus811

This team has about 12 unforced errors every single game. Until they clean those up, absolutely no lead is safe and they’re going to continue to lose games like this.

Also I’m all for Victor getting lots of shot attempts, and Johnson’s one of the go-to guys so I get that too

But Devin only getting 12 attempts in a game where the team really struggled at times to score, when he was red Hot early, is inexcusable.

This team has done this so many times over the last year and it’s not just on the guys, Devin himself has to do a better job of getting the ball and getting himself into good spots

Probably more than any loss this year. This one stings. It was right there for them

  9. threeoneleads

Just viewing all this as growing pains. Just gotta use this season to improve and later down the line it’ll be worth it

  10. joben_512

Devin Vassell should be the guy during crunch time? No?

  11. blue-anon

Very winnable game. Bad game for Wemby tonight – his energy didn’t seem to be all the way there. On to the next one.

  12. MrErnie03

Closing games in the NBA is really hard, especially for a young team. Just keep learning/improving throughout the year is the only goal this season

  13. widelyruled

Spurs made 19 3s (on a great 44% too) and *still* lost. I have a feeling there’s going to be some harsh words in the locker room after this one. Some really boneheaded plays throughout.

  14. I’m not mad, everything’s going as expected, GSG

  15. Lesscheesemoremac

Vibe looked off from the team once they started creeping up

  16. android24601

Strange night when of all the threats on the Heat, Duncan fucking Robinson lights you up

  17. coolphred

Bassey with a nice 6 minutes in the first half. Then Pop forgot he existed I guess.

  18. Such a shame Bassey only got 6 mins but the mins he was in he did his sole job of rebounding and playing the paint. 5 rebounds in 6 mins vs Zach’s 5 rebounds in 30+ mins. He deserved more mins with the way he played tonight

  19. TTUSpurs_fan

Love KJ but I don’t think he should be the one with the ball In crunch time. Seems that him forcing a drive that leads to a turnover is pretty common

  20. rawsharks

Mentioned it a couple of times in the match thread but one of (but preferably both) Vassell and Keldon are going to have to become actual threats to attack the rim or they won’t fit on a future competitive Spurs team. Less of a concern for Vassell because of his outside shooting but for KJ it’s a big problem because he’s not particularly good at anything. Look how much points Miami generated from FTs from their perimeter players this game, it’s like +20. Being able to attack the rim puts pressure on the defender, forces help, opens up the jump shot because they can’t close out too hard, slows down the other team’s momentum and prevents transition buckets.

Bad shooting nights happen to every player and team, it’s whatever. Not being able to attack the rim is the kind of thing that puts a ceiling on your effectiveness as a player.

Okay but why didn’t we even try to at least use our last timeout, I swear at times it feels like we’re just throwing games. It’s hard to instill winning culture in a young impressionable team when all they’re told is to run up the court and chuck pull up 3’s in a somewhat close game.

  22. The problem on offense is the spacing is terrible and we do actually need an actual PG to set the offense up. Looks like they’re about to trip over each other every possession.

  23. Thehelloman0

I’m fine with this game. If the refs don’t completely fuck us over this game, we would’ve won. The heat were constantly committing fouls that weren’t called

  24. OGWallenstein

I’m content with knowing it wasn’t too much of this or too much of that. Straight up inexperience killed them, I hope they really watch that on tape.

I also want to add, I would like to remind everyone that there is a time for every young team where they fucking suck because they don’t have the pieces together yet. That is us. Suddenly when it clicks, it’ll click. We have a direction, it’s just about building up on it.

  25. FirstTribeElder

You know i love you Josh Richardson, but fuck you for hitting those shots!

  26. paxusromanus811

I got to give a shout out to Malachi branham. I thought He had one of his better all around games tonight

  27. Axsh1boomba

The Spurs are getting closer and closer to win close games but something is missing. Hopefully they find that soon.

  28. Bonesawisready5

Wemby’s shots just weren’t falling, it will happen. He didn’t back down and that’s great. He makes a few more and especially if we had Tre we win this one. Tomorrow gonna be tough on SEGABABA with Thunder.

This season is all about learning. I’d like to at least win a few more games than last year, and close losses, while they hurt, they are growth and development vs complete blowouts

  29. No_Barnacle9439

Wemby scored all his 7-8 pt in the 4th quarter in the first 4-5 minutes with the reserve unit. Aside from being clutch, I think another reason why Wemby scored lots of points in 4th quarter is because he doesn’t play with a line-up with Jeremy being the PG in 4th quarter. This is not blaming Jeremy, but for some reason, the offense chemistry isn’t there between them. Something Pop needs to figure out.

  30. hotfireyfire

Wemby will be a perennial DPOY leader for years.

  31. MettaBruschetta

We have people calling for Wesley and signing John Wall in here, jesus we’re too far gone lol
