He basically called Zion (JV too kinda) out halfway through the video with the indirect “guys complaining about not getting calls and not getting back on defense” comment.
But for the most part, BI will always stay consistent with how he approaches the media and taking accountability after a loss. “I have to be better. I can do X Y and Z better.” That’s always been who BI is since the start of the 2021 season, and that’s why he’s the leader of the team.
He also touches on the lack of offensive communication as a unit, but particularly with him and Zion. The extremely troubling part about his quote on needing to talk more with Zion is I feel like that quote can be dated anytime over the last five years. I’ve always kinda wondered how close those two are outside of basketball and I’ve always leaned towards they are more “coworkers” than they are “boys.” The relationship starts and ends on the court, nothing more. That’s not enough imo, and won’t EVER be if this team ever wants to be more than a first round thrill.
This has been said numerous times by me and others on here since last season’s trade deadline: one of these guys needs to go. I hope it’s Zion, but I have accepted I’d be okay with BI being the odd man out as well. Although if you trade BI, I think you have a real shot at poisoning the locker room and coaching staff. There’s a reason his face is the focal point of the practice facility mural. However, BI’s a free agent after next season, Zion is with the team for the next half-decade.
