The MAJOR obstacle Steph Curry & Warriors must overcome this season | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf discusses the biggest challenges Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors will face this season. Teams with athletic wings on the outside have troubled the Warriors to start the year, and Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and Klay Thompson will have to play better on the offensive end of the floor in order to help out Steph Curry.

  1. Kuminga and Moody are ready to take Wiggins and Klay's minutes as long as they're not performing and the rookies should get more playing time because they bring the energy the Warriors are missing

  2. you need a mixture. yes, as a NBA geek i would LOVE more x and os covered during commentary but at the end of the day it isn't just NBA geeks that watch basketball. its the general public. not everyone is going to understand DHOs, spain PNR, 2-3 zone. some people just want to see the ball go into the hoop and cheer. so as much as we want a more "x-o" focused commentary we need to realise that it needs to be public friendly as well. we cant whine about low ratings but then not make the sport accessible to the masses. it comes hand in hand.

  3. I sound like a basketball savant when I talk to the guys at work the day after a game because of your videos. Effin' sound analysis, my dude.

  4. You're damn right about the Warriors. 1 player doing insanely well on a team is easier to deal with than multiple players being threats. There's no shortage in professional sports where there's one bonafide star of a team regularly doing well but the rest are doing shit. That's why despite having a big star, the team still sucks and will not go anywhere. There isn't going to be a magical switch that just comes on for the playoffs. Keep it up and you won't even be eligible for the playoffs.

  5. Start Moody and Jk.
    The starters are not helping.
Curry is playing with 4 none scorers right now especially at the PF and C position. Looney doesn’t even face the basket when he gets the ball so does draymond 😂 it’s painful to watch.

  6. Hope your next set of reactions include sone to this Cavs vs Kings game. It was so fun to watch! The Cavs defenwas never allowed to set! Kings look great!

  7. These losses are just part of the process in becoming NOT the most perfect team in 2023-24, just the best out of 29 other teams. We’ll get there. Even after last night, there can’t be more than a dozen other teams in the NBA that are ahead of us, and trust me, the Timberwolves are gonna have their own ups and downs in their journey too.

  8. Mailbag question:

Will going out of your way to come push someone, in a non basketball play, to irate a player to get into an altercation with you, so refs can go review an earlier play, set an ugly precedent?

Will players now do this all the time so earlier plays can get reviewed?

I'm absolutely amazed and quite frankly appalled NBA REWARDED this type of behavior.

  9. It’s like people forgot about how good Klay was last season. Led the league in 3 point shots made, averaged 22ppg, only player with multiple games with 10 or more 3s, only player in multiple games with 12 or more 3s. Only player to hit 12 3s. Go back to 14-15’, 17-18, 18-19 seasons. He had a slower start to all of those seasons than this season. Bandwagoners are judging him on a very small sample size, but don’t know history. Very clownish 🤡

  10. Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins are 3rd and 4th options at best getting 2nd option money. They are both simply not good enough. Until they get a second star that can score 20 points a game they won't win a championship.

  11. Feel like Warriors need to package Wiggins for a SF ideally 2nd option scoring. Everyone is available except Curry.

  12. The main problem to overcome is that so many defenses are getting better every year at handling all the actions the Warriors do, especially in their 3 shooter lineups. They need 4 or more shooters in the floor if they face any kind of rim protection. And with Wiggs and Klay underperforming right now, Steph is on his own. You can see the exhaustion as his legs go from carrying the team.

They’ve solved their bench problem at least.

  13. Size isn't the issue, we have size. It's the lineups, it's a coaching issue.

    Steph/GP/Moody/Draymond/Looney

    CP3/Klay/Kuminga/Saric/TJD

Starters work better bc Moody/GP2 are smart defenders with tons of hustle and can shoot the 3.
Bench looks better since Klay will rarely have to create, and CP will be in charge of finding good shots for Klay. Saric stops getting abused down low and TJD adds energy and IQ. You can switch Kuminga/Moody depending on matchups. Wiggins can be traded or he can lock himself in a gym before anymore PT.

  14. "Chris and Klay got to give offensive firepower. That's what they collect their pay checks for." Translation: Those guys (add Klay) are not worth their salaries.

  15. The major obstacle will be trying to trade A Wiggins, i can't take this guy anymore, he is like Poole after the Championship, he simply gave up
