I read this as players underestimating Chet’s defensive intuition.
So this means everyone is relentlessly attacking Chet. Whereas they are avoiding Wemby.
Chet needs some inside help. Hard to be aggressive on the offensive end when he’s getting worn out in the paint constantly on defense.
