How do we feel about acquiring Zach LaVine?

I don’t know a bunch about Lavine’s play style. But from his stats I don’t really see how he makes our team much better. I figure we would give up about the same amount of scoring for him and he isn’t a significantly better facilitator than who we’d give up. So I personally don’t see it.

But someone could inform me otherwise if they know more about him and his play.

Bad contract. Maybe if it’s only Collin, THT, and 1 first, which won’t happen, and I wouldn’t want the team to trade firsts for him, so I don’t want the Jazz to trade for him, unless the Bulls feel sorry for defeating us in the finals twice in the 90s, that they’d trade him for Collin, and THT

Don’t bring LaVine into Lauri’s life again.

Unless he can be acquired for peanuts, which will never happen.

If you can get him for cheap like how we got Collins for Rudy Gay and a Second, then sure. There aren’t currently 10 players better than him on the Jazz, so he would make the team better. If they want first round picks or starters, or anything like that then I would pass on the deal, the contract is a negative.

If I’m the Jazz maybe I offer Sexton and a second.

  5. He’s just a volume scorer that doesn’t do anything else. Overpaid, and not the type of player we need to target.

If the Bulls blow up, Caruso is the only piece I can see making sense for us. Plus, he helps us lean in harder to stereotypes.

While Lavine addresses short term needs with offensive playmaking and distribution; the Jazz will still have one of the worst defenses in the league with or without him. With him, the Jazz cap is tight and they have a lot less ability to make moves to improve the team. Without him, the Jazz can take their time, see what the rookies turn out to be and wait for an opportunity that both improves the team short term and addresses long term needs.

I think that most of what LaVine can bring could be replicated by Sensebaugh. He’s an automatic bucket in the G League, but unlike Clarkson/Sexton/THT he doesn’t dominate the ball. He’s getting his points and his 5+ assists on moderate usage. Tie that in with how good Keyonte has been with playmaking and distribution and the Jazz offense isn’t the problem in the future. Key and Sensei need to be average defenders and Hendricks needs to get his offense up to NBA level; because the 3 of them collectively address problems on both sides of the ball. Key and Sensei have Dame and CJ level offensive potential. Hendricks has DPOY potential; he can switch 1-5 in the G League and make it look easy and was just as comfortable guarding a switch on the perimeter as he is guarding a big in the paint. Pair him with Kessler and get Kessler’s 3 up to 35%…TL/DR Now is the time to be patient, not to add overly expensive pieces.

Essentially a more expensive Lauri. Doesn’t solve our need for a point guard.
