Don’t let ESPN see that picture or we’ll get headliners about how Tatum attacked Brown, they can’t get along, and the Celtics are racist.

Brotherly love. I wonder if KP started winking at JB before or after this pic. KP can flirt, but the Jays are deeply connected and their destiny is forever linked.

  3. Nah, they are good. Have to remember Scottie wanted money, thatā€™s what screwed up the relationship with MJ. These guys are rich beyond belief

Deuce dating JBs future ex wife confirmed

As long as Deuce doesnā€™t end up marrying Jaylenā€™s ex wife in 25 years, weā€™re good

I’m fairly confident that it won’t. The sets of personalities are too different and the Jays basically grew up together. MJ and Scottie, even though their ages weren’t that far apart, always felt like they were from entirely different generations.

I think the thing with Scottie was predictable. If you can find a copy of David Halberstam’s “Playing for Keeps,” there are sections there about Scottie (he also writes about Larry Bird there) and what was obvious to me even reading it the first time (25 years ago!) was that Scottie was always a bit insecure and sensitive.

He was also really angry that the Bulls wouldn’t give him a new, larger contract/underpaid him — but the thing is, he accepted that contract (it was not long after the Bulls won their first title IIRC). Even at the time he did, some NBA writers (Sam Smith was one of them IIRC) were already saying that it wouldn’t look good a few years down the road, but Scottie took it because it because he’d grown up very poor and wanted the security. Halberstam makes the same observation in his book.

On top of that, everyone knows MJ is an alpha — that man is not apologizing to anyone. But this always seemed to be more of a Scottie thing because even during his HoF induction, MJ said that there’s no MJ without Pippen. I think that’s the greatest compliment the GOAT can pay you — but then that storyline in the Last Dance about Scottie holding out in 1997-1998 came up and Scottie didn’t like it.

The thing is… that portrayal was accurate! People at the time thought Scottie was being a dick about the whole thing and might’ve hurt the Bulls’ chances for a 2nd three-peat. It was James Harden-type behavior from Scottie, who’s generally regarded as one of the best teammates anyone can have (even the ESPN anchors said he was a great teammate back when he was doing TV with them LOL). Could MJ have editorialized about that and let it lie? Yeah, sure — but MJ has kind of a ‘frank’ personality, and he wasn’t going to sugarcoat what Scottie did.

Then, Scottie goes on this whole “MJ was nothing without me” and “Lebron’s the GOAT” thing, which was really meant to antagonize MJ (although TBH, I don’t think MJ cares about the Lebron thing — he’s always said the GOAT thing is undefinable — he never played against Russell, Jerry West, etc.). Not the best look for Scottie. He’ll always be one of my favorite players ever, but he has to admit that his reaction to the portrayal of him in the Last Dance (which again, was accurate!) did him no favors.

Thereā€™s a lot of good basketball to worry about between now and then.

Letā€™s get some rings on their fingers first.

  8. Aromatic_Tower_405

If they get 6 rings in 7 years they can have a gun fight in the streets after they retire if they want to.

  9. archerarcher0

    Doubt it

MJ and Scottie were never really cool when they played together either they just kind of tolerated each other for the greater good

  10. Digitalzombie90

Even for 6 rings? Average Boston fan would be ok with them turning mass murderers after retirement if it meant 6 rings.

  11. Smelldicks

As long as Deuce doesnā€™t fuck Brownā€™s ex wife

  12. If we get even half as many chips as MJ+Pippen, I dont care if one of them murders the other lol.

Itā€™s a different league now. Not say they both do but guys all have the same agents. They go to each others summer camps, work out together. Itā€™s a community, not the competitive league you remember it being. Not course I cherry picked those words and thatā€™s not to say it wasnā€™t a community 30-50 years ago but the league feels a lot smaller than it once did.
