NBA Hasn’t Seen A Player Like Sasha Vezenkov

Sasha Vezenkov is unlike any other NBA player: he is able to score while barely dribbling. So far, the 28-year-old Sacramento Kings’ rookie & EuroLeague MVP has racked up 33 points with 2 dribbles. In this video, BasketNews’ Augustas Suliauskas takes a look at how a below average athlete (by NBA standards) can be successful in the strongest basketball league.

  1. Not enough length if he and Sabonis are on the floor together? Look at the person he would be replacing (Harrison Barnes) who seems to average like 2 rebounds and defends poorly as well. Sasha should start, but Mike Brown is determined to keep HB in the starting lineup

  2. What i get from seeing these moments is that they have virtualy stopped defending in the NBA. Sasha is not even doing anything truly extraordinary here. He is just moving around, trying to lose his defender, the same way we were taught to do when we were freaking teens. He is very good at it of course. But still, he is just implementing the basics.
On the contrary. The defenders – wholeass NBA players here – are NOT doing the absolute basics of defending. NEVER lose sight of the ball and NEEEEEEEEVER lose sight of the player you are defending against when on man to man defence.
I am not a basketball pro by any means. This is just what i was taught when I was like 12.

  3. OTB is a very valuable asset for low spec players. If you got good eyes and can fit in the right spots you can be a valuable weapon that can normally fly under a defenses radar in the heat of a game.

  4. Not sure why americans are too lazy to move around. They look like their feet has been nailed on the floor lol

  5. a lot of nba players dont have fundamentals anymore.
in europe you get taught SPD which means 1. shoot when open 2. pass and third is dribble.
nba players often times dribble first and then look what happens. this dude just shoots when open and otherwise passes. and he can move really good off the ball.

  6. With Venzenkov's addition Kings became one of my top teams to watch, just loving the potential here

  7. I wasnt expecting much when it came to his defense but he’s actually been a pleasant surprise on that side. His footwork isnt as slow as scouts had us believe and hes got really active hands and a good feel for passing lanes. Once he (and the whole team) start hitting open looks this offense is going to be just fine.

  8. Sasha could and should be Sacramento’s secret weapon. It’s shaping up that our best 5 is

    Fox
    Sabonis
    Murray
    Hurter
    Vezenkov

  9. It’s like watching a football player (soccer) play basketball. We are always in movement 😂

  10. Hasn't seen a player like Vezenkov? Man that's basically Klay Thompson. 🤦

  11. I feel like Keegan Murray is also a great cutter. It is going to be interesting to see all the off-ball movement, especially with a good passing big like Sabonis.

  12. as a greek i saw him play in olympiakos and he was destroying everyone in every situation he is ungurdable
