Why Bulls must TRADE Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozen | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf reacts to the news that the Chicago Bulls are open to trading Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozen. After the poor start to the season, it seems as if the Bulls are headed towards a complete rebuild, and do not seem to have a single untouchable player on their roster.

  1. jason you crazy, why would the pacers pay Vucevic 60 MILLION over the next 3 years for a backup center, you crazy.

  2. I've heard the Warriors wanted Vuc n Caruso last season going into Offseason.. could be interesting

As a Bulls fan Id want some OKC picks/Giddey, NY picks n Quickley/Grimes
Maybe The Kings or Hornets would desire a dela with Bulls

Hmmmm.. Go get The Magic Picl back! 😂

    I can't stand the Bulls

  3. I think the biggest question is would you trust AK and this front office to do a rebuild!! Cuz they screwed up coming in trading young players and picks for mediocrity!! And apparently didn't want to admit sooner than now! But we'll see what happens!😂

  4. Blowing up the Bulls completely is the stupidest sh** that AK & Marc Eversley could ever do. Any Bulls fans who actually watch Bulls games on a daily basis would know this. The Bulls biggest problem right now is coaching. Billy Donovan's a horrible Head Coach for this Bulls team. So blowing it all up just to keep Billy Donovan's garbage ass here is ridiculous. I'm all for a retool of the roster. But a full rebuild makes no f**king sense after just 11 games into the season. That's just f**king insane.

  5. Zach was always overrated asf, high volume shooter with inconsistent efficiency, mediocre passing and distribution for a guard and a negative on defensive, both half court and transition. He can only be a positive on the court when he scores +30ppg, and even that he does would not make his teammates better. As a Bulls fan it’s time for him to go, good luck for the team who will handle his contract…

  6. Warriors need to go after Zach Lavine hard. Fuck this loyalty to Klay crap. He cant play defense and misses open layups. They thing he is supposed to do well he's not doing well.

  7. Aa a Chicagoan, I just want to clarify that Chicago is NOT a small market team, i.e. Denver or Oklahoma City, although our team owners often act like it. I call it our "Midwestern complex". We're the 3rd biggest city in the country, so we're much more similar to LA and NYC.

  8. Bulls will re-tool to try at the 10th seed for the playoffs even post Lavine trade. FO sucks its just the facts

  9. Okay I've come up with a giant 3 team Lavine trade that I actually think works… It involves OKC deciding to finally cash in their chips, CHI trading Lavine, and BKN deciding they need to shift some assets into the future. Honestly, I think this trade would benefit all 3 teams, but its a doozy for sure. I'm just not sure if Presti is ready to cash in yet, or if BKN is open to moving players. But LMK what you think:

CHI gets – Lu Dort, Davis Bertans, Ousmane Dieng, 2024 LAC 1st Unprotected, 2025 PHI 1st Top 6 Protected, 2024 HOU 2nd, 2027 MIN 2nd (So in total 3 players, Two 1sts, and Two 2nds)

    – I don't think they will find better value for Lavine anywhere. Getting a stud role player like Dort, a high upside young player like Dieng, and 2 1st round picks is a fantastic return for Lavine's contract. They are both very young and it would give them two more pieces to try to fit with Pat Williams long term. Plus, that LAC pick is starting to look like it could be extremely valuable and could really kick off the Bulls' rebuild on the right track. If the Clippers continue to suck, the Bulls could potentially have two top 10 picks this year.

BKN gets – Josh Giddey, Kenrich Williams, Aleksej Pokusevski, Vasilije Micic, 2024 HOU 1st Top 4 Protected, 2025 MIA 1st Lottery Protected (if not conveyed, it becomes '26 unprotected 1st), OKC 2026 1st Unprotected, 2029 DEN 1st Top 5 Protected, and a 2025 PHI 2nd. (So in total 4 players, Four 1sts, and One 2nd)

    – This is the iffiest side of the trade for me. Bridges and Claxton are huuuggggeee assets to move off of if you aren't clearly rebuilding, but I think its worth it because even though you're good, you aren't championship level and this could be the springboard to build around Johnson and get there. I think getting a potential stud like Giddey, two very good role players, and a high risk/upside prospect like Poku is a great haul. Add in 4 1st round draft picks and I think that is plenty of value for Bridges and Claxton.

-OKC gets – Zach Lavine, Mikal Bridges, and Nic Claxton

    – The reason I love this trade for OKC is that they cash in on their roster crunch and draft picks to get the exact kind of players they need. They get a 2nd elite scorer in Lavine. The get one of the best two way players in the NBA in Mikal Bridges, who possibly has the best contract in the league. They also finally get another big that they can run with Chet, which should really boost their defense. A rotation of Shai, Lavine, Bridges, J-Dub, and Chet with a bench of Claxton, Wallace, and Joe could win a championship.

  10. Full rebuild is what would make the most sense.

So of course the latest reports are the Bulls will do the only thing more stupid than letting this season play out with the current roster, trying to stay competitive by trading Zach for decent vets instead of picks and prospects.

  11. This boils down to lavine's ego. He couldn't accept that it wasn't his team. It's Derozans when you think about it. He's the vet, been more available, better defender, better leader, better closer and better player. No questions. Doesn't matter if he's younger
