We drafted Duncan when we had a team of vets. We drafted Wemby when we had the opposite.
This is gonna be a steep curve to climb. There will be losses and it’s gonna suck, but how we lose still defines us. It’s impossible to lose by more than 20 in the NBA if you just play hard. You see vets and coaches say it all the time, it is the #1 determining factor of a win or loss, effort.
At this point there are a couple of players we have seen a lot of action from and they have a lot of quit in them. I don’t think most of the team has the right mindset and I don’t think a coach can flip that. That’s built from watching someone else do it right. We desperately need some sort of good veteran leadership not just someone on their swan song.
If not we are going to end up with some cancer we will have to cut off due to never forming good habits as a young professional. I would not be surprised if the FO might be trying to move off of 1 or two guys before the deadline so we can get a glimpse without them.
I’m not saying the whole team is this way but a few of the people we are hoping are here for the long term are.
They are going to make this team fit around Wemby not the other way around.

I wonder how long Pop thinks he needs to see what Wemby does before he begins coaching him. The whole season? After all star break? At some point you gotta stop observing and start doing

you can run some structure in different areas of the floor with different players and observe the results. It achieves the same result with better effect.
Rather than this mess where wemby looks completely lost and just just up some shots and it doesn’t really achieve anything at all

Understandable.
