I know klay usually starts slow and all, but after last years playoffs vs lakers and the eye test from the start of this season, I don’t think we can rely on him as a number two option playing starter minutes.
It was refreshing seeing our young guys the other day constantly move, run off screens, sprint the floor etc. klay just can’t do that any more. Watching him he’s not running off ball nor cutting as often as he used to.
Sounds like a knee jerking reaction but I really do think he’d excel coming off the bench and playing against back ups. We could use more shooting off the bench and at the same time we need to infuse our starting line up with more quickness and speed. I’d like to keep him a warrior for life though I’m hoping there’s an understanding the starting job isn’t a lifetime seat.
Overreacting to small-sample shooting stats will never not be annoying as hell. I guess they need *something* to talk about, though.

I can handle the slumps.
But what I can’t handle is his visible negative attitude and effort on defense when his shots aren’t going in.

ESPN folks don’t like the warriors since Steph and Dray called them out after winning the 2022 chip. So they are just jumping on the “old, washed” bandwagon. Hope it motivates Klay, and Wiggins to prove them wrong like it did in 2022.
Stephen A is close with Lacob. This isn’t coming out of nowhere, I think this is coming straight from Lacob. I have a feeling Klay is traded this year. Can’t say I blame him.
What use is there for SAS
Truth hurts. Klay defense is drastically declined, sub par rebounder, not a good passer, can’t dribble well, rarely drives to the paint, still takes alot of heat check shots, and DOESN’T HUSTLE AT ALL.
So yeah, if he is not shooting at an elite level, he doesn’t really bring anything. Well to be nice I say at least he brings floor spacing….

True, but the added pressure isn’t going to help him get back to that level. He knows. He’ll either figure it out or ride the bench.
I’m fine with Klay struggling as I believe over the span of the season, the stats will average out.
But this should also be reflected in contract negotiations and a very team friendly deal.

Klay shot 41% from 3 last season. He’s only shot less than 40% once in his career. But let’s go off this 10 game sample and call him done. Fkn idiots!

I’m fine with Klay….. if his salary is around $10M-$15M, but the reality is he’s an insane $40M like HOLY SHT. they could’ve gotten a fantastic 2nd option with all that money.

I see no indication that Klay is not still an elite shooter – he’s always been streaky and more often than not starts the season cold.
Last year Klay had the highest volume of 3 pointers while shooting >40% in NBA history of any player besides Steph.
I think the bigger problem is his shot selection and the times he decides he’s going to take the shot even if it’s against the flow of the game.
Its a non meaningful take. Of course if Klay isn’t a great shooter he doesn’t have much value. Obviously. His shooting is why he is in the league. I am a doom and gloom guy but Klay is shooting 34% from 3 right now. He has never shot below 40% except the shortened season after his injury when he shot 38%. He didn’t suddenly forget how to shoot. Its impossible. He will not finish this season shooting 34%. That being said, he is not an all star level player and not a consistent enough second scoring option. That is also clear.
I think it‘s more to do with Andrew Wiggins can’t shoot the ball anymore，so the spacing of the starting lineup is really poor. There’s basically 3 non- shooters in the starting lineup. The whole team is shooting extremely poorly except Steph，Dray and Saric right now. Maybe moving Saric to the starting lineup would help.

Podz, moody, and kuminga need more minutes, all of which are shooting at a high percentage, and honestly bring more to the table on the defensive and offensive end of the court. This is coming from a fan who’s only jersey is a Killa Game 6 Klay.

I hope everyone in this sub gets treated just like they’re treating the Warriors core when they get old themselves. Be thankful for what we got, Klay does not owe us any more elite years, time comes for us all.
I love Klay but he aint a 2nd option anymore. He’s barely a 3rd option. If his shot isnt falling he is useless. His lack of an offensive game has been covered up by the team and his 3pt shooting. Take away his 3 pt shooting and dude can’t score consistently at all
