It’s kind of a repackaging of the statement “the Celtics have a fantastic point differential” sliced up five ways.

They do, and that’s great, but it’s a result of being a team sport and a small sample size. It’s not at all like it’s saying “the Cs have the five best players in the league”

The fact that Bruce Brown is no2 in offensive rating makes this stats unreliable, for now. Lets check it again after 40 games.

our net rating is gonna be a little mickey mouse for a while bc we beat the hospital pacers by 50

That fact that we don’t have a top 10 usage rating player (even Tatum)

    Ball movement baby

It’s just all Boston and Denver.

If both make the finals it’ll be a legendary matchup.

It’s skewed by the two teams with the best net rating.

Reggie Jackson does some stupid stuff but Jokic carries so hard lol. Surprised to see Pritchard there and not Hauser as well

  8. My thought is that’s basically a mix of Jayson Tatum being awesome, and the coaches have optimized his abilities by providing him with

    a) spacing, with Hauser/Pritchard’s own shooting gravity,

    b) letting him play less-stressful moments against opposing teams’ benches while grinding the opposing teams’ starters with other starters, which means he has an easier time on defense and offense, both, and then

    c) unleashing a not-as-worn-out Tatum against the opposing teams’ starters in the fourth.

As a result, whoever is playing with Tatum is benefitting, but they’re also contributing to it -because- their own abilities allow Tatum to be awesome. Think of those guys as multiplier effect on the main guy being featured.

Brown ranks a bit lower because the bench is built more around Tatum than it is for him, and he’s usually playing against the starters most of the time, which doesn’t boost his net rating, but he’s doing his own bit by wearing out the opposing teams’ starters so that Tatum can murder them in the fourth.

PP having a higher net rating than Jokic? Yaaaaaa, analytics never tell the full story no matter how convoluted the math equation to get that number is.

  10. Joe’s throwing down challenges in garbage time, I expect that energy rubs off on the players a bit.

  11. What’s amazing is that the most prestigious list of these six is surely the first one (most impactful), in that it is essentially an MVP / Game’s Best Player quantifier.

Shai, in 2nd, is more than 20% closer to 10th place on the list than he is to Jokic.
