I say this as someone who us neither a T-wolves or Warriors fan; what I saw there was Gobert getting inbetween Thompson and McDaniels to make sure they were separated. No aggression. No starting a new fight with Thompson himself. Simply stopping the confrontation (to protect his teammate Jaden McDaniels from himself).
Draymond, on the other hand, was very much a deliberate choice to not only escalate things, but ot purposefully choke an opponent.
The NBA needs to take serious action against Draymond. A significant fine and a significant suspension imho given he has a history of bad on-court behaviour and confrontations. He is an embarrassment to the league and its reputation, and never turns down an opportunity to be in the middle of confrontations, make situations worse, or generally publicly inflame situations and bray like the jackass he is.
