Cason Wallace Isn’t Playing Like A Rookie.

Every team that has aspirations to be great has that one player who’s a major X factor. Despite not putting up big numbers, or being a top 3 option in the offense. They do the things that don’t show up in the statistics that matter just as much as what shows up in the box score. For the OKC Thunder I believe they found that player when they traded up to the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft to select Kentucky guard Cason Wallace. I’ve been on record saying Wallace is the best one and done defensive guard prospect I’ve ever evaluated. And he’s been great for OKC to start this season. Showing why many including myself were so high on him going into that draft. But while I believe Wallace is that glue guy for the OKC Thunder as they look to build a contender around their young core. I also think he can be even more than that.

Cason Wallace is a well rounded guard. On offense his game is very polished, he’s solid to good as a shooter, finisher, and passer. While not elite or perfect as a scorer, he has very few flaws. He thrives off the ball, and is competent on the ball. Making him the ideal guard to have next to Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Chet Holmgren. But what truly makes him special is his defense. His feel for the game is well beyond his years. His technique is very polished. He’s advanced both on and off the ball. He has a high motor. He’s a good shot blocker for a guard. He has active hands. He’s physical at the point of attack.

Cason Wallace has all the tools to be the next great connecting two way guard. Following in the footsteps of guys like Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Marcus Smart. Only time will tell when it comes to how good Wallace will be in the NBA. But I have all the confidence in the world that he will be a high-level contributor for a very long time based off the intangibles and traits he shows on tape.

My name is Noah Terranova. On this channel I make videos breaking down the film of basketball players in both long term and single game contexts. I use a combination of advanced stats, basic stats, tracking stats, and what I take away from watching the games to form my evalutions. My goal is to give my own perspective on the game with my own little twist on how I choose to present it.

  1. You make a great content, and you have a great understanding of basketball. The problem that I see with your content is that it kinda like a podcast, but not really, I mean that you don’t really use any graphs or show any plays often, that will make it more interesting to person that watches, but your content is still more for casual NBA fans who aren’t going to lesson to long podcasts, because you talk most of the time and what the players role and how he plays, and most hardcore fans probably already know that ( there is nothing bad in your content being casual, I don’t watch a lot of basketball myself, so it helps me understand the NBA better ), So if you want to get more views, you should make more visual content, while comparing that player to other players ( so the casuals would understand how good that player compared to other, because when you say “good scorer” about bench player and “good scorer” about all star casual sees it the same ), it will make your channel more interesting to wider audience and you will get more views, good example of channel that makes a similar content to you is “alex hoops” ( you should learn from him ), I hope you the best to succeed at youtube, sorry for spelling mistakes English is not my main language,
    Good luck

  2. Another stud, Lou dort is adding to his trade value looking at his offensive percentages I can see okc moving dort and opting for Wallace before trade deadline

  3. Excellent vid, I feel like they need him to take a nice efficient 7-12 shots a night or more, feel like more scoring wings since defense is pretty solid all around
