Entering his freshman season at Duke Jalen Johnson had hype as a potential top 3-5 pick. Due to his frame, athleticism, and playmaking potential. However after a freshman season Duke that was rough to say the least for a few reasons. His stock fell. But even with that the fact he fell to pick 20 in the 2021 NBA draft was still ridiculous. After two seasons with limited play time Johnson is finally getting opportunity in year 3 and he hasn’t disappointed. Johnson has been incredible to start this season. Showing us why he should’ve never fallen out of the lottery to begin with.
Jalen Johnson is a monster play finisher, solid on ball slasher, good connecting playmaker, freak athlete, and high upside defensive player. His numbers have seen a meteoric rise in year 3. And depending on how good his jumper gets, we could be talking about a future star in the NBA.

The Hawks coach started playing Johnson late last season. We are now seeing why Collins was traded. Johnson helps keep pressure of Trae and Murray by being another guy that handles the ball and initiates

Is he better then John Collins right now? No.
But he has the potential to surpass him this season.
