[Quinn] I could not have been more wrong about the Cam Reddish signing, but in my defense, the difference between Lakers Cam Reddish and every other Cam Reddish is a full-on 180-degree turn. I don’t know how they turned him into this player but man, everybody involved deserves a raise.

Nobody saw THIS level of production coming, but his corner 3 has always been there and his on ball defense has been good-to-great all before being a laker.

Correct me if Iā€™m wrong, but those are the two things that have him getting all this praise. If itā€™s a 180 flip, then you just checked box scores, games played, # of teams, and made an ill-informed conclusion.

Many laker fans have said heā€™d be an ideal role player here for the last two years.

  2. Yall wonā€™t give Ham his props but I will. Masterful move and vision.

I think the difference is having a team and a coaching staff that lets him play. This team is actually letting him do what heā€™s best at and he has absolutely no pressure because the focus is likely on the other 4 players that heā€™s on the court with. Heā€™s become a complete pest on defense. His effort is even helping guys like D.Lo make solid defensive moves.

Coaching, environment, and teammates. Cam spent time in ATL, NYK, and POR. Thibs is a terrible coaching fit. Portland was actively tanking, non serious franchise. Atlanta didn’t have the teammates who could inspire confidence in a youngster. The synergy of the Lakers, Bron and Dlo and AD, and Ham have given Reddish the confidence to be a star in his role.

  5. A lot of it has to do with expectations, when viewed as a lottery pick his performance is disappointing, when he is viewed as a minimum signing role player he exceeds expectations

Hes successful when heā€™s understood as a player. Keep his game plan simple. Heā€™s only asked to do two things: cause havoc on defense and corner 3 on offense

  7. The nba is weird they will pick a player in the lottery then give up on them before they turn 25 usually most players donā€™t hit their prime until 27 so at 23 the 19 year old you spent a first round pick on is useless. I blame coaching in cams case heā€™s been on horrible teams.

I thought heā€™d be nothing more than a depth piece. Iā€™m fine admitting when Iā€™m wrong and happy to do so in cases like this

I think itā€™s the overall combination of an organization that believes in and supports him, clear and attainable expectations of his role, and I think the most important: HIM buying in to all of this; accepting that this is the best path forward for him right now to continue/extend his NBA career.

Didnā€™t know lebron is non binary. Quinn called bron ā€œtheyā€ in the tweet

Ham specialty it seems itā€™s getting something out of nothing and player relationships but struggles with adjustments.

None of camā€™s previous team provides what bron can provide – open 3s because bron just draw so much attention. Every successful recipe for bronā€™s team are shooters and defenders. Defensively cam is a menace, offensively, youā€™ll see him standing at the corner waiting to shoot

Never seen Reddish play before so a vet min signing this was a low risk high reward scenario. Glad it’s working out for everyone.

The difference is he’s playin with Lebron. It’s that simple

  15. Yep I was very wrong about Reddish. I had no idea he was this kind of defender, and I didn’t expect him to shoot 34% on threes. That’s not an amazing number but it’s better than expected, compared to his career stats.
