As a Celtics fan of forty-five years I can safely say this Celtics team has ZERO defense – they cannot protect the front the rim, get defensive boards or even challenge opponents' shots. Teams regularly create easy shots off of back picks with no Celtics rotating to meet the ball. They rarely apply 3/4 court defensive pressure or even half-court pressure… allowing teams to walk up the floor. Likewise they have nobody on offense who can move without the ball to create easy shots and they refuse to crash the glass. Their fallback is taking 30-40 3 pointers / game and hoping for a decent percentage. This will show-up particularly during the playoffs when teams/coaches can make adjustments and take advantage of their mismatches. Because so much money is tied-up in a few players they have stiffs on the bench who cannot rebound or defend. Financially they have no flexibility – it will get worse when Tatum is eligible for a supermax extension this Summer. Enjoy the highlights.
