We Need to Talk About LaMelo Ball.

LaMelo Ball has been the latest player to be labeled as “empty stats”, due in large part to the shortcomings of the Charlotte Hornets organization. The truth is a lot more complicated though, because when LaMelo Ball was fully healthy during the 2021-22 season, he helped them achieve an above .500 record and they made the play-in tournament.

Despite being compared to players like Tyrese Haliburton and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LaMelo Ball is truly his own player. The Hornets have a long way to go before they’re a truly competitive, but with LaMelo operating as the primary facilitator and offensive engine, they have a lot more to work with than a lot of teams in the NBA.

  1. I'm gonna drop this comment again, I've been here since less than 4K subscribers 🎉 THIS MAN DESERVES MORE. 😊. GO FOR GREATNESS A-H-🔥

  2. the fact the narrative about lamelo from some people in the nba community was lamelo’s a stat patter and he doesn’t contribute to winning was ridiculous if you just watch him play and look at his stats and underlying metrics its obvious he is a special player and will be one for a long time

  3. As a Hornets fan I love seeing the potential within our squad both offensively and on defense. LaMelo alongside Miller and Bridges is the offense we needed and having Mark Williams on the floor being such a beast on defensive boards and all that i see needed is a better backcourt defense in LaMelo, Hayward picks that up pretty well though as well.

  4. I have been a melo fan since 2021 his sophomore season and as he progressed he has been such a flashy and amazing player happy to see this video

  5. Thank you for the objectivity and the actual constructive critique. Too many either focus specifically on stats or repeat narratives. This was great.

  6. Charlotte is trash and they are wasting Melo’s talent. He is definitely playing like an all-star. Your analysis was really good. I’d say his development is on par with other young players. So much of his game and habits grew out of being the smallest guy on the court. He’s grown into his body and thus has more control. At Chino he’d pick up that dribble mid key and hit the floater because guys were up to a foot taller and he’d have no shot at the rim. Also, I’ve noticed he’s playing with his natural left hand more. Some of his movements before seemed like he was uncomfortable or uncertain with when to switch because he was made to play with his non dominant hand.

  7. People throw the "empty stats / not a winning player" tag on every young player putting up numbers even though it should be clear a guy like Lamelo is an incredible talent with not much around him that can still make his team offense competent. He's a hooper

  8. He’s led his team to a 3-9 record. He doesn’t contribute to winning. He will need to take a step back if he wants to win.

  9. that analysis of his game was on point! good job. he is averaging 25 ppg 7R and 8 assists right now with a 44% FG. Everyone can talk but he is not the problem on that team. They actually play the worst basketball I have ever seen without him on the floor.

  10. As a Hornets fan I am confident in Balls ability to lead us to the 1-15 spot in the Western Conference. Balls the cream of the crop of young pgs. Ball’s full of juice and ready to explode all over the NBA

  11. My main concern with Lamelo is health, his dad put him through the same kind of wear that lead to Lonzo's injuries.

  12. LaMelo should make the all star team imo. But the East is way too competitive for the Hornets to make the playoffs. He needs to shoot a higher percentage from the field for his height. I think he’ll get better every year for the next 7 years.
