Believed early on that he’d be great with increased volume from 3, he’s blown every expectation I’ve had of him out of the water. Prayed for years to have a PG like him.

Just an excerpt:
Head coach Tom Thibodeau has been on a mission ever since taking over the team in 2020. He wants the Knicks to bomb away from long range. When he arrived, New York didn’t take enough 3s. The shot profile, as he often says, was analytically unfriendly. Today, the group’s identity has changed. The Knicks jacked up 3s a season ago, and they’re doing it again now. They create good, stand-still, open ones, too. And now Brunson, a man more synonymous with rinky-dink floaters and precise footwork, is joining the party. That marker on the practice court is symbolic of it all. A few feet behind the 3-point arc at the Knicks’ practice facility in Tarrytown, N.Y. is a white arc that is so deep it can’t even extend to the corners of the court. Instead, it bends from sideline to sideline. The Knicks call it the 4-point line. And once Brunson arrived, like many of the Knicks’ jump shooters, it became a fixture in his basketball life. Brunson’s method over the past two summers has been the same. About 80 minutes into a workout, once he’s already got a sweat in, he heads to the 4-point arc. He heaves from five spots lining it, catching and shooting, all while making sure to maintain the same form. Then he gets into side-step 3s and other off-the-dribble work. Two summers of long-range labor led to a goal coming into this season: Brunson wanted to shoot more 3s than ever. And he didn’t just want to chuck them up. They had to be good, open 3s within the rhythm of the offense. So far, it’s happening.

The Knicks have 4 players who have shown to be consistent 3-point shooters (DDV, IQ, Grimes, and now Brunson) 2 players with a streaky 3-point shot (RJ and Randle), and 3 players who don’t really shoot threes (Mitch and I-Hart along with Hart). If the Knicks can get RJ and Randle to be more consistent and get Hart to try to shoot some threes they will be a contender.

It is funny because last year you could see he had a great 3pt shot, but did not take a ton. Glad he stepped it up, and call me crazy but maybe taking some shots Randle would have taken, as his volume seems down to me.
