[Valenti] “You can go your lifetime without seeing your team lose 12 straight games — Pistons have done it 3 times since February. What a clown show the Pistons are, it’s this incestual nepo baby routine, I mean look at the people who run this team…That’s not an NBA franchise, that’s a soup kitchen”

  1. They’re going for the elusive 23 straight losses from the 2011-12 Bobcats.

  2. coachketchup

You can also go your lifetime without seeing your team win a championship. So at least they have that

  3. graveyeverton93

If you are an adult Piston fan above 35 you haven’t had it all bad! You have seen 3 Championships, 5 Finals, and they have been to the Eastern Conference Final every year in 2 different eras! 87-91 and 03-07

Which is a shame because there is a lot to like about the roster for years to come. If Ausar Thompson develops a jump shot he’ll be their best player in short order. Unless of course Cade Cunningham takes another leap. If both of those things happen, the Pistons won’t be a laughing stock for long.

This is his only good take. He also wanted to trade our fifth pick for randle or Ben Simmons

  6. They’ve been missing almost half their team for most of the season so far including their three vets – Bojan, Burks, Morris. Their four best young guys are all 22 and under and two of them have missed a good chunk of time.

They’re down bad, but calling for people to be fired or traded 15 games into the season is lame. It’s disappointing that fighting for a play-in isn’t looking likely right now, but it’s still a long season for them to find their groove.

Let them tank in peace. At least now they can actually hope to build something.

Better than those Stan Van Gundy years where their highest ambition was to win 39 games and get swept in the first round if they were lucky.

The worst thing about the Pistons is signing Monty Williams to that contract. There are maybe 3 guys in the NBA worth that contract and Monty is nowhere near that. Congrats to him for getting it but talk about a major fail by the Pistons.

u know you’re down bad when Valenti, the biggest clown in the universe, starts to make sense

  10. Shingorillaz

Sounds like the Wolves where Glenn Taylor only hired within the “family” forever.

  11. BaltimoreBadger23

Are there things about soup kitchens and nepotism of which I am unaware?

  12. goblue202320242025

I wouldn’t take valenti seriously but in this case yea he’s right

  13. blacksoxing

As a Thunder fan, I thought Troy Weaver going over there was a big affair.

…..Looks like they’re still in “the process” though they have much more talent.

    Tough luck

  14. Complete_Ice6609

I feel like nepo babies and soup kitchens are kind of opposite of each other though?

  15. thabiiighomie

I’m 30 and saw them win a Chip. I think I went to 32 games that year and 5 playoff games. Sucks because I can hardly watch or can even enjoy NBA basketball anymore, but at one point and time it was my favorite thing in the world.

  16. Hovi_Bryant

    This is nothing to me.

The real back breaker is if Cade never figures it out.

  17. No_Hovercraft_2719

Hard to win games when your best shooter and your best big are injured. It’s tough out there.

  18. Duren doesnt deserve to get flamed because he was drafted by the pistons

  19. Shallot_Belt

As a bulls fan I’d trade places with the pistons right now and twice on Sunday. They at least have some young players in Thompson, Cunningham, and Duren. The bulls have not one player that’s a part of our long term future.

  20. It’s on Troy weaver. Look at the guys list of signings, dude continues to stock pile busts like Knox and Wiseman. I honestly wouldn’t put it past him to put an offer in for Pat Williams thinking he’ll fix him.

  21. There are people who have lived entire lives (100+ years) without ever seeing their team win a championship

  22. The thing about the Pistons thats fascinating is that you never feel like you are danger of losing to them. I doubt the players are having a good time, basketball might be a job but its important to have fun too.
I know they are tanking and developing players but eventually you have to turn it around, focusing on the good things and cutting the bad ones.
Why the fuck was Saddiq Bey a 24 year old solid forward that could play defense and shoot traded for a bust and peanuts? There needs to be accountability for this. GM should have been fired into the sun after that.

  23. DominiqueBehagen

Everyone is missing what he is saying. A strategy analyst in the coach’s son and the head of player development is an execs son. Both guys with no prior experience with sports teams.

The head of PLAYER DEVELOPMENT has never developed a team or worked in PD before. Ausar and Cade wont develop outside scoring if there is no one to coach them to do so. Draft picks, trading for poole, and other ridiculous ideas wont turn the Pistons around, they need top down new management

  24. tistalone

Maybe getting the no 1 overall pick is the Piston’s high roll condition for taking basketball seriously again.

  25. They have Silas the basketball terrorist what do you expect

  26. You left out the best part:

    >”Then you get to the roster, which is largely a collection of largely non-functional human waste.”

  27. SnarfSniffsStardust

Can someone fact check this? Are there teams that haven’t lost 12 straight games in the last 70 years?

  28. AdministrativeAd523

Cade, Jalen Duren and Ausar should be the core of the future. Everyone else should be on the chopping block
