    GAME NOTES:

Man what the hell. We look so discombobulated and unorganized. With 2:00 minutes left in the first half, we had the same amount of made field goals as turnovers with 16 a piece. Our offense looked god awful, our defense looked just as bad. This is some of the worst jazz basketball I’ve ever seen, and I watched every single game in the Ty Corbin era. I don’t know if it is a coaching issue, or if it is a player issue, but it is terrible. I can’t tell who the locker room leader is, or if Hardy even has the team.

Hardy mixed up the rotation and starting lineup, opting for Olynyk > Ochai in the starting lineup, and playing some Kris Dunn and Omer Yurtseven in the first half. Our best lineup tonight featured Dunn, Yurtseven, Agbaji, Fontecchio, and Lauri in the second quarter.

Credit to Kelly Olynyk for making an impact in the starting lineup tonight, showing Hardy why he should be starting while Kessler remains out. He was feeding Lauri, making the extra pass, and was almost perfect offensively tonight. 5-5 shooting, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, but 3 turnovers. I really like him being a starter while Kessler is out.

Lauri Markkanen had the most shots for us tonight which was great. I’m glad that he was able to commander more looks than THT, Clarkson, and Sexton. Credit to Olynyk for finding Lauri, running the two man game a few times to get Lauri some easy buckets. Lauri finished with 9-18 shooting, just 1-6 from deep (he’s been struggling from deep lately), 5-6 from the free throw line for 24 points, 8 rebounds. He only had 4 points at halftime, so it was good that he was able to kick it into gear the second half. Too bad he was the only one to step up.

Jordan Clarkson with another bad bad showing. He was missing layups, making terrible reads, and just trying to do too much. JC has never been a very consistent player, but I don’t know if he has ever been this inconsistent. Maybe it’s because he has been able to ‘hide” as a 6 man in the past, but what ever it is he needs to get back to it. I wonder if it is for the best to move him to the bench for now. He finished with 13 points, 5-11 shooting, 2-4 from 3, 1-2 from the line. 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 turnovers. That is unacceptable. Can’t have 7 turnovers.

Agbaji actually surprised me today. He looked more involved offensively, he was leading some sets, and had some plays ran for him. It didn’t look like he was just sitting in the corner, which was great to see. He had 9 points on 4-4 shooting, 1-1 from deep in 14 minutes. 9 total points for him tonight.

John Collins is in a rut, and I think it is because he is being asked to play C minutes way too frequently. He struggled today on both ends, 12 points, 6-12 shooting, 11 rebounds. 6 of his rebounds were offensive, which is nice. Just not a lot going for him recently. Missed a few bunnies around the rim. His only points in the second half came in the last two minutes of the game.

Keyonte George is still struggling with his shot. His only two makes were from deep, going 3-6 from 3, and 0-3 everywhere else. 7-7 from the free throw line was impressive, he was getting to the line and making them. 7 assists 0 turnovers is also great. I’m just waiting for that shot to start falling. When he starts scoring, it will unlock more confidence for him, making it easier to navigate the floor and get to his spot. 16 points for Keyonte to go with those 7 assists and 3 rebounds.

Sexton looked bad. 0-5, 0-3, 1-2 for just 1 point, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers in 12 minutes. It’s not like he was taking bad shots, they just weren’t falling today. He didn’t have the best defensive impact either. Sucks that our highest paid player this season is playing so poorly.

THT with a bad game too. 1-4 shooting, 0-2 from deep, 3-4 from the line, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 4 fouls in 16 minutes. He was taking bad shots, and just being reckless out there on both ends of the floor. I don’t know why he is continuing to get minutes over Kris Dunn. THT’s only shot was a pretty cool ankle breaker, tough layup, but that’s the only good thing he did.

Kris Dunn had just 5 minutes, all of them coming in the first half. He had 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block. For a guy who looked so good in preseason and towards the end of last season, it is such a shock to me that he continues to be one of the last guys off the bench. Will Hardy must have some dirt on him or something, in my eyes he is our second best option at PG behind Keyonte.

Omer Yurtseven had meaningful minutes tonight, going 1-3, 1-2, 0-0 for 3 points 6 rebounds. Not as eye popping as his stats against the Lakers. He definitely wasn’t our best rim protector tonight, but I don’t think anybody really fit that bill besides maybe Lauri.

We just got cooked by Jerami Grant. Interior D is such an issue, and our perimeter D is not much better. We collapse too easily on drives, and don’t rotate fast enough to bother 3 point shooters.

Also, I would love to see the jazz try to trade for Brogdon. I doubt the Blazers do it, or their asking price is going to be too much, but he would be such a great PG and mentor to Keyonte.

    Anyway. 4-12 for the Jazz.

    This sucks.

  2. Benching Ochai was a mistake, but also.. look this is a rough stretch I get it. First 15 have been bad, but this team will be fine whether they end up pulling a turnaround or not. Things are going to change, hopefully sooner than later, AND HENDRICKS NEEDS TO BE ON THIS DAMN TEAM CAUSE I CAN’T STAND SEEING THIS BENCH PLAY 0 D

  3. Time-Ad-3134

Will Hardy needs to grow a pair and make some of these players hold the bench. Tell it straight to the players that keep chucking they’re only allowed to shoot a certain amount of times because they are not them, cause lauri doesn’t even touch the ball.

  4. Guys I’m not having fun anymore 😭😭 Perhaps a rough season ahead if no adjustments made but will always back and have faith in our team 😥

The fact that we saw this team play wildly better than this *three days ago* is both the most promising and most frustrating part of watching games like this.

Look, there’s a lot of negatives to take away from this game. Most importantly though is we need Walker Kessler back. No one wants to rebound. Too many times we had 3 yellow jerseys in the paint just ball watching and a trailblazer would come up with the rebound. Can someone donate an elbow so Kessler can return quicker?

This was a dismal showing tonight.

  7. I still think a turnaround is possible especially if the Sexton/THT trade comes sooner than later, but mainly Kessler returning

THT isn’t a point guard, his handle is sloppier than Sochan’s

Yeah my days of staying up till 5 am to watch these games are finally over. Wasting time and money on this is a joke
