The Milwaukee Bucks 4th quarter comeback falls short; Bucks lose to the Celtics, 119-116

The Milwaukee Bucks five-game winning streak came to an end with a 119-116 loss to the Boston Celtics. The game wasn’t close until the Bucks went on a 4th quarter run led by Brook Lopez and Damian Lillard who combined for 23 points in the quarter. On today’s episode, Camille, Frank and Justin take a look at the what the Bucks did to get back into the game, discuss how the Bucks matched up with the Celtics and if the Bucks place in the eastern conference hierarchy changed after this loss.

  1. They started the comeback efforts way too late. Blowing too many easy layups costed them the game. Only surprised they actually made it back to 3 pt deficit given how poorly they played. If you've watched the first 40 mins you would have easily thought they'd been blown out by 30+ so that's the only positive takeaway

  2. One takeaway for me. Giannis needs to improve in his decision making. There was a point when Brook was opened twice in the paint but he decided to shoot and it was air ball and the other was a foul call.

There are some games Giannis needs to just attract double team or even 3 players near paint and find someone to pass to instead of brute-forcing especially against elite teams. Kick the ball out to Dame, Beasley, Khris, ..

Another thing to note is, this is not the best version of Celtics, they will still improve and when they do, Bucks had better be ready as well.

I like the fact Griffin is calling for timeouts at the right times and he is not afraid to temporarily take Giannis out temporarily when he sees he is making wrong plays.

  3. To Justin’s comments – I think for most contenders there should not be moral victories in losses. However, this is a team with a new coach learning a new scheme, with a new superstar and new role players. So as we’ve said all along this is a work in progress, we are not at our final form yet. So I think it’s okay to have some of these moral victories at this point in the season. Secondly, while I agree Boston’s defense is good at forcing misses around the rim, we just straight up smoked like 8 layups tonight. Cam Payne missed a wide open one, Giannis had a couple point blank misses with very little contest. Dame had the dunk. So I think most of those had nothing to do with Boston’s defense. I’ll say there was probably 5-6 that we just straight up missed, and the rest may have been altered by Boston’s defensive presence

  4. Firs time our coach went against the Celtics. First game Middleton played more than 20 minutes in 2 years. So we have excuses. Also, we didn't put Horford in foul trouble as i suggested 😂

  5. It's time to talk about it. Kris Middleton is Washed. They're not a championship contending team anymore now that father time has KOd Kris

  6. Fans are getting sick of the Bucks not being able to beat the Celtics ! Do they not remember the humiliating 40 point loss they put on them last time ? Have they no professional pride ? All the playoff losses and the toxic rain of three point shots poring in are giving us fans PSD ! Maybe the Celtics are just the better team and we all should accept it ! The Bucks seem to have !

  7. We actually played well against Boston overall. Just got in a hole that was hard to get out of. Statistically we had more rebs, points in the paint and fewer turnovers. Milwaukee starters actually outscored Boston starters 94 to 83. Milwaukee just missed ALOT of shots. Easy, at the rim shots…and even though they lost, I STILL feel optimistic

  8. I’ll be honest I don’t understand why we just don’t over exaggerate on brown and just stay on he’s right arm. I’m telling you look at this guys highlights-or anything. It’s all going right nothing left. Like today anytime he had the ball in he’s left hand he would pass it right away. Look at how Ajax was guarding him, he was making him go left. We can expose him he’s another James harden. We need to bring the James harden right arm defense.

  9. Way too hard on the Bucks guys. Apart from the slow start we got it together we showed our offensive power and got back in. As Dame said on the post game press, 1 extra pass and we would have won this game.

  10. Apart from the poor shooting and needing an extra pass we are looking better as the season continues.

  11. Our Wings Look Good. Marjon played really good defense. A-Jax looked good as well. The problem is we are not playing them enough.

  12. The reason Dame is a great closer, put the ball in his hands at the end of the game other teams are looking to foul and he is a very high percentage foul shooter.

  13. Coach Griffin needs to just commit to the Young Bucks. A-Jax and Marjon need to play. One of those guys need to start. I don’t see how you can play Beasley and Khris at the same time against elite wings.

  14. Celtics are the better team right now, but Bucks have a higher ceiling. Just hope Griff is the right guy to get them there.

  15. The bucks have been struggling with the Celtics for a couple years now. Now with Jrue being there its not going to get any easier. The Bucks need get jump started before getting on the court.

  16. Perimeter defense will be a problem for this team all season. Equally problematic is whether Giannis can be effective in a half-court offense if opposing teams limit his ability to drive to the basket.

  17. Why is it every single game we find ourselves trailing by double digits midway through the 1st quarter? Whatever we do pre-game ……. stop doing it. Whatever we don't do pre-game ……… start doing it.

  18. My "few things".
    Dame always starts to cold.
Giannis always struggles to shoot vs Boston.
    Portis disappears vs Boston
We wasted a huge game from Brooks.
I was right, Porzingis is a huge liability on D

  19. Bucks perimeter defense needs to be fixed still. Boston offense spaces opposing teams out with focus on outside (3pt) shooters and attckibg the middle.. You have to focus on defending this to stop their offense. Mazulla is focused on utilizing this.. Horford can still be a good defender for them.

  20. Cheer up guys, the game was close, and considering how badly everyone played, that should give us all optimism for the future. Still lots of basketball to go, and Jon Horst is already working on that perimeter defender that will make all the difference in April-June.

  21. Honestly that was better than it normally used to be with the “old team” so I’m not too disappointed.
Damn we ALMOST completed a hell of a come back though. Next time.
