Look I like Mills as a person and a player but in the last few games we’ve gotten absurd offense and comically bad defense. How does Patty Mills elevate that kind of team?
More specifically
1. Whose minutes should be going to him?
2. After identifying that person, what is he doing better than that player
3. Finally what problems does that solve for the team?
My take – Best case scenario he’s hitting open shots, moving the ball and not turning it over more than an average guard while playing worse defense than 2023 Trae (he’s slower and shorter even if he is more wily).
I thought we brought him to be a presence on the bench and a competent “break glass in case of emergency” IR ball handler and I’d rather SG minutes go to some combination of DJM/Bogi or even AJ before Mills.
