Why The NBA Is Terrified Of The OKC Thunder

Question if you had to predict which NBA team would win the most championships in the next 15 years for 1 million dollars who would you pick? The Bucks who have Dame and Giannis under contract for the next 4 seasons? The Boston Celtics with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown entering their primes? Or could it be the raining champion Denver with their dynamic duo of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic? What if I told you that none of these options are correct and in fact it’s a team in the middle of the nowhere lead by the best young talent in the NBA the OKC Thunder. We may have to get use to seeing these faces dominate our league and today I’ll tell you why they will be virtually impossible to stop in the coming years.

The OKC Thunder were 3 games away from an NBA Championship in 2012 however they were unable to defeat Lebron James and his Miami Heat. In the offseason they made a bad decion deciding the not resign there star 6th man James Harden. Harden walked to the Rockets and was immediately a Top 10 player in the NBA. In 2016 the former league MVP Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors in free agency leaving the Thunder in shambles and after one last effort to win a championship stopped dead in it tracks by one of the greatest game winners in history. They would begin a rebuild. However this was no ordinary rebuild because the GM of the Thunder Sam Presti had a plan. First he delt the fan favourite and former league MVP Russell Westbrook for the point god Chris Paul and draft capital. But he was far from finished yet as after just one season Presti move CP3 to the Phoenix Suns for role players but most importantly more picks. With trade after trade the Thunder were able to accumulate 17 first round picks in the next 7 seasons. To give you a rough idea OKC used there pick to draft elite passer Josh Giddey in 2021 and in the following year drafted Chet Holmgren and Jaylen Williams who have all blossomed into starters. With the remaining picks they have enough to fill an entire roster of first round talent. However the likely option out of the two is even scarier. The Thunder are likely to target star players forming a super team to play with Shai, Chet and maybe even Giddey.

    anyone who throws out "they need to trade giddey" automatically lose their credibility to me, you obviously don't watch the thunder and therefore don't realise the impact he has to the team outside of his numbers… one casual says it and the rest repeat it…
