Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards clutch as Minnesota Timberwolves survive Warriors

The Minnesota Timberwolves held on to defeat a shorthanded Golden State Warriors team for their seventh consecutive win. Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks it all down, from the brawl in the opening minutes that led to ejections for Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Jaden McDaniels, to Karl-Anthony Towns’ best offensive game of the season. Plus, Anthony Edwards’ clutch pass to Mike Conley in the closing minutes and Rudy Gobert came up big in the fourth quarter after a pedestrian open to the game. Plenty to like about the Wolves’ survivability this season…

  1. This team desperately needs a back up PG. Edwards and Anderson have been turnover machines these last 4 games. Edwards had 5 turnovers by himself last night and was a -9 in this game. Not going to excuse Towns turnover issues but they absolutely have no hope in this game without him. Edwards was terrible defensively as well. It didn't matter who he was guarding last night. Impressive win only in that it shows they can win every night but also need every bit of talent they currently have on this roster to do that and they obviously need a little bit more in a skilled ball handler. They are not a smart enough team to win on good fundamentals alone. Can't sit and say stupid things like "Trade everyone, this is Ant's team now" because Ant is a part of the reason why they have games like this. It was part of the reason they couldn't get over that hump last year without KAT on the team. Ant is still figuring it out. They are a .500 team without KAT right now. Absurd to suggest otherwise.

  2. Even if we have a usual Wolves backslide at some point stacking all these early season wins will definitely help us in January. Also I cant believe all these people on Twitter calling MN soft because we didn't clear our bench and go full Malice at the Palace. We did what we needed to, let our game speak for itself and grind out an ugly win to rub in Drays face

  3. This team reverted back to so many bad habits. I'm not giving finch much credit for this game. Going back to force feeding the ball to Rudy guarded by two defenders is probably one of the worst things of last season I was happy to see gone this year and they tried to do it multiple times down the stretch in this game. Why was Ant handling the ball at the end of the game instead of Conley? So many dumb turnovers in the game. So much horrid ball movement. NAW had to play 25 minutes of awful basketball to finally force finch to go to TBJ for a change. Hard to love the coaching in this game.

  4. Dude. Why are you ripping Rudy? Did you forget what happened in the 1st 2 minutes? These people are human. It probably was on his mind for a few quarters. He did have a bad game, but it was after getting choked out. Just saying…

  5. This coming from a jazz fan…. Gobert will get scapegoated in any way shape or form he can for anything bad that happens. Just a subconscious national bias from the 4-5 viral memes hes had. Plus dudes just hated how good he was early on so the draymonds of the world bashing him from day 1 didnt help

  6. The difference is they get to settle in and get comfortable with each other. Last season they were figuring it out. I'd say they still are but Chemistry takes at least two seasons. They blew so many double digit games. Now they are getting better building and holding leads. Same team, more chemistry.
