Back to earth. When you have a feeling too good to be true, and it turns out it is. They looked tired, but Green was better.
At least these guys make sense. Talking facts, talking what's real. Most people in the chat were just brain dead or living in their perfect universe but know nothing at all.
Honestly while two loses suck, my expectations for this team were already low and the fact that we have seen Luka and Kyrie work on offence, Lively is better that expected has already satisfied my desire for the season. Defense needs to improve and Luka needs to be better but for most of this season Luka has played okay to good defence for most of it and keeps that up awesome.
For the rest of the season can omax develop enough to be a a solid option off the bench, can green develop into a starting level point of attack defender and can we increase the value of enough players to make a trade in the offseason for a player to be a lock down wing defender.
omax needs to be in the g league. get him minutes so he can be ready to help thr mavs D after all star break!!

This team is where most expected it would be, before the season. Or maybe even a bit better. We had a team that was clearly going nowhere last season and we had to change something. We did, but it's still early and a work in progress. This offseason was a step in the right direction, but we're still a couple of steps away from being a really good team. What we shouldn't do now is overreact and do some stupid short term trade. We should wait for some young players to develop in for the right players to become avaliable.
This team is what we as realists all expected they don’t have enough tools. They’ll be a play in team. Yes they had a good start to the season but who did they actually beat? 1 and 3 against teams over 500 speaks volumes. They probably need a trade but they don’t have the draft assets to trade away!
Sadly what most feard as did I Dallas cannot beat healthy good teams…

This is becoming my favourite Mavs pod. Keep the good work up Kirk and Josh. 2nd games in 2 days – I would not overreact. They could have won yesterday but it did not happen. Today, they collapsed in the 2nd half…it is what it is. To the next game, to the next win. PS let's hope these losses push Nico to add some other good pieces to the roster (if possible and without destroying the existing roster)
Powell is the worst center in the league! He should get no minutes, we'd do better playing keef Morris at center
O’Max needs to be getting minutes, as many as possible. He needs the practice. Thats all…
I'm still on the Richaun Holmes bandwagon. He's only had 30 minutes total this season, everyone knows what Powell can do (pretty close to f… all), so why not try someone else as first backup big? Also Maxi and Powell are combining for $15m a year for THREE MORE YEARS. What is the plural of Albatross?
Ok, you trade Hardaway for a younger power forward(not sure who). The points will be there. With extra Green/Hardy min, Hardy can do THJ’s job and THJ is the most valuable he has been in 3 years.
And a line up of Green (2) Grant (3) New guy with size (4) Lively (5) could be real nice…

Can’t imagine the front office expected Lively to be this effective early. Makes you wonder what their plan for rim protection was coming into the season? None, I guess.
It’s wild hearing people say 43 wins is a successful season just because of the mess that was last year. Ain’t Luka supposed to be better than that? The kind of great that gets teams like this to 50 wins?
I don’t think anyone thinks Holmes is the savior, but he’s better than Dwight at pretty much everything. The guy can’t just get some minutes to see how it goes?
Of course Josh thinks big men don’t matter though, so his take makes sense. Aren’t you the same guys who constantly complained about wanting something different? Holmes isn’t Powell. There you go.
Fox has been on fire. I need to see some more 🔥 from Luka this year; he’s looked a bit out of sorts and you’re right – it all starts and ends with him.
What are we?? Are we one piece away from being able to defend the best teams? Or two? I cant tell at this point. I do know the championship Cavs team 2016 that won with Ky had multiple great defenders…. Along with LBJ who was a great defender and that team’s parallel to Luka…and Luka is not a 2015-16 LBJ defender. So can we win a championship with this team?
