Not just a loss, but with their worst loss of the year (-17), the Celtics in real danger now of not making the IST quarter-finals. They’ll need to blowout Chicago in Boston Tuesday.

Idk why fans are dismissing this. We should want to win the IST. It’s playoff-level basketball. Tonight was a playoff atmosphere with playoff physicality, win and you advance – and look how we responded. We have to be better in those situations and one of the ways to improve is to play more of these kind of games.

  2. Ienjoymyself

Less games on the slippery court = better. Let some other team lose their star to a knee injury on that eyesore court.

Fuck the fucking IST, the IST floor is the real danger fuck Adam Silver and his disgusting courts. It’s really sickening in my stomach that our players getting hurt because of the fucking IST shit looking court

  4. I only care if they win the championship. Who cares about this stupid marketing meaningless garbage tournament!

  5. NotFlipkid

People switched up on the in season tournament after the loss and it shows.

I think the IST has been a successful fun way to add more stakes the regular season, and it would be cool if the Celts were competing for it in the knockouts which should be fun. That being said, it’s not a big deal if we don’t make it. The courts are inconsistent in quality and we definitely shouldn’t/wouldn’t risk anyone’s health to make sure we make it.

Adam Silver is trying to emulate European football leagues. This is ridiculous. The stakes of the IST are tremendously high for bench players and bad teams. Stars and contending teams do not care. Is this what is intended?

(I do think this was what is intended. Shout out Mike Felger)

The IST is so fucking stupid and even if the players care I don’t.

so we just need to beat the bulls by 24? that is doable…but its going to be hard.

  10. donkadunny

The IST scheduling is awful. If you want group play, schedule it thusly. How does 1 team have played 4 games, 2 played 3, and 2 played 1?

  11. Billybaja

We lose one game and we’re at risk of not advancing?

I’d be pretty surprised if we actually end up with a 20-30 point win. This team is just not playing for 48 minutes over the past 4-5 games and they are making it way harder than it has to be. It would go a long way for them to come out with a statement type of win against the Bulls, because they have been struggling putting teams away lately. Orlando is better than they have been over the last few years but we gotta get used to teams REALLY wanting to beat us and coming with max effort, and the c’s definitely haven’t made that adjustment yet.

I mean if we still beat the bulls and get a nice December vacation that’d be cool too

We don’t get the cash bonus if they win the tourney. I just care about wins, not point differential to make quarterfinals

I’ve been a Tom Brady fan for 20 years. He always treated the Pro Bowl with such contempt and talked about how the only thing that matters is the next ring.

I never really understood why people were interested in the in season tournament. I’m not opposed to it, but I never really understood why it matters.

In season tournament would have more stake to it if you gave the winner the 2nd pick in the draft.

  17. MmmmmSacrilicious

I think would be real cool if the Celtics when the first one. If it sticks, that’s cool.

  18. >in real danger now of not making the IST quarter-finals.

Oh nooo what will we ever do? /s

If this means we won’t need to watch our players get injured on the ice rink basketball courts, fucking good.

I care more about us being in the easiest stretch of the season and looking mediocre. We are consistently blowing leads and struggling against the worst teams in the league. It’s nice that we are able to close out very close games, but honestly I don’t think we have looked like an amazing team lately.

  20. AmbitionExtension184

Who the hell cares about IST? They need to get rid of this meaningless garbage by next season. Especially the dangerous floors

  21. knownsportsenjoyer

I do not give a single fuck if we don’t even make the IST. Take that week to get healthy and get right.

  22. davemoedee

Good. Tournament is just a distraction. I don’t want to lose any games, but if we are going to lose games, I prefer they be tournament games. I don’t want the extra game, and I don’t trust that the league will properly balance out the schedule for the teams that play harder opponents in the knockout rounds.

  23. We got blown out by a bunch of kids still developing. Not a good look.

  24. Huge disappointment. Anyone who says otherwise is just on the copium. It’s an opportunity to win something and this team literally didn’t show up today and got played off the floor by Mo Wagner. It’s a loser mentality and this team still hasn’t shown they have a winner’s mentality.

  25. kpflowers

I’m saving my coins to hopefully go to a playoff game this year. I give -437 fucks about the IST.

  26. derekgoodspeed

Add me to the list of people who couldn’t care less about the IST. I understand fans of middling teams getting excited about winning something, but this is the Boston Celtics. We don’t hang ECF banners for a reason, and this is a massive step below even that achievement. Let’s just get through this Adam Silver marketing ploy without injury and focus on the true goal.

  27. I am now in love with the in season tournament. We gonna win with IST MVP JT, even with the L’s and injurys because thats what we do, we comeback
