Durant on Nets exit: “It just wasn’t no continuity on who we were as a team. When you want to win a championship you’ve got to build an identity from Day 1. It was a lot of circumstances out of the players’ control that got in the way.

Uhm I’d say it was all in the players control lol

Like even choosing to play or not

  2. WhoNeedsAWholeBagel

Just say kyrie refused to get a basic vaccination during a pandemic. Still waiting for us pro vaxx folks to drop dead.

  3. Booker: I think the world is round, vaccines work, and I enjoy playing basketball.

    KD: Sold

  4. “it was everyones fault but mine. Look how great i was on a 73-9 team”

deandre jordan signed for 4 yr/40 mil because of the players

deandre jordan started over jarrett allen because of the players

atkinson fired because of the players

nash hired because of the players

nash fired because of the players

kyrie missing most of the 21-22 season is on him

so crazy that back in january, KD and Kyrie were still Nets and Westbrook was still a laker. Felt like yesterday

  7. Aaand, as much hate as Harden is getting now, that’s why I will never fault Harden for wanting out of the Nets.

Seen both Kyrie and Durant talk a lot about this whole identity/ continuity thing, how things were a struggle b/c the team never had chemistry.

That is *entirely* a result of Kyrie’s bullshit, and Durant siding with Kyrie over Harden. Kyrie is, unfortunately, one of the VPs of the player’s union, one of Lebron’s closest friends, as well as Durant’s. There’s no way Harden was going to be able to overcome the locker room influence of Kyrie and Durant together on the COVID situation or the team having to field different rosters for road and home games, and there was no way such a dysfunctional team with part time players as centerpieces was going to succeed.

I know it sounds like conspiracy theory BS, but damn, you had players like KAT basically dodging the question when asked directly about the Nets and the vaccine situation. This was a man who lost 8 family members in a year to COVID, who wasn’t on the Nets, but he wanted no part of that convo. That’s how fucked up a grip Kyrie and his friends seem to have behind the scenes among the players.

Even now you have Durant saying it was out of their control, which is BS.

    Never takes responsibility, classic Kevin.

May retire a champion but never a true leader.

  9. burner7221

They went 18-2 in the 20 games before he got injured…

  10. LocustUprising

It always someone else’s fault but their own. How peculiar 🤔

  11. You mean it was a situation with too much player control ….

“If you want to win a championship you join a championship team with near unparalleled talent and success in 21st century basketball, or even NBA history. You need to do that right after blowing a 3-1 lead in the conference finals to that same team.”

    -KD

  13. “You gotta build continuity from day 1” lol what a clown. You build continuity by continuing improving day after day, week after week, year after year, and keeping things the same no matter despite some ugliness in the journey. Man so sensitive about being called a bandwagon team-hopping ring-chasing snake, albeit a HOF level one.

  14. Athletes live in completely different worlds. This is what Bob Myers was saying as the head of the Warriors. When their teammates are in legal trouble, or are beefing with GMs the players don’t care. They let them handle their business and then continue on. It’s why Bridges was still practicing with other NBA players and chatting with Lebron after the game. They will believe the system, the coaches, the GMs and the owners are at fault WAY before the players. That team failed because Kyrie didn’t want to take a vaccine that was proven to be safe and helped keep people alive. Simple as that.

  15. CattlemensSteakhouse

Jesus, this guy is chronically incapable of self-reflection.

  16. IceCreamGoblin

Lmao clown take. Everything was literally run by the players during that period.

  17. AstridsDad

KD was a shitty owner/player. Kyrie was a shitty owner/player. Harden actually played well but was injured

  18. That is RICH.

The Nets gave KD and his friends everything they wanted and even kissed their asses on the way out. It was 100% in the players control!

  19. canadianRSK

Nets had an identity woth kenny atkins, dinwoddie, lavert and jarrett allen then kd and kyrie came and had everything changed

  20. Tearz_in_rain

Just Durant not taking ownership… again.

KD and Kyrie forced out the coach who built a culture.

Then they were like “Bring in Nash.”

They Kyrie was like “We’re our own coaches.”

Then they were like “Fire Nash.”

And KD and Kyrie were reportedly healthy for the playoffs that first year, and neither played.

    And Kyrie sits out games.

    And They ask for Harden.

    Then Harden wants out.

That seems like the players had control over EVERYTHING.

And KD doesn’t want to own up to his own failings.

I wish this guy would just shut up and play, because when he lets his game do the talking, there’s nobody who is more impressive.

But when he talks? I just end up rolling my eyes.

  21. balldontlie3030

Poor excuse for a leader, great talent but takes no accountability and doesn’t hold his teammates accountable, good riddance

  22. blobthetoasterstrood

KD wants all the glory but none of the accountability

  23. For those who did read it. It says that KD is not the bus driver.

  24. ghostofmufas

Revisionist history works when the time period is longer than a year or two

  25. Latter-News-2851

No continuity, no identity…brother they gave you the fucking keys and said “what else can I get you?” They did and gave you every single thing you wanted, and you’re supposed to be the leader of the team. Everything he just complained about is directly his fault.
