I've been saying their schedule has been so easy, they only played 6 games against above average teams and lost 4 of em.
They may not always make the right move but they are always one of the more willing teams at the trade deadline if they see a trade they like.

Mavs fan here. Thing is…they are a lot better than last year and they can get better still but the problem with calling them a contender this year at least is the difference has been a 19 year old rookie that's gotten them from being the worst rebounding team in the league to 22nd. Now, next year, the year after you can bank on that being an even bigger improvement but for now they're gonna be pretty inconsistent on defense and on the glass.
