Brunson is the real deal but he’s not a big guy, you have to question how long his body can handle this type of wear being the number one guy.
The Knicks can only compete if the Knicks ride Brunson but they need him fresh in the playoffs.
I don’t think LaVine is the answer, but the Knicks must find a way to ease the burden on him and the answer is to give Barrett more responsibilities.
The coaching should make it easy for Barrett by letting him become the secondary scoring option over Randle and run the offense through him, even when Brunson is on the floor occassionally so that JB gets a breather here and there.
Knicks should use Barrett in the pinch post and have set plays like the Heat do with Adebayo and Robinson cutting to the rim.
Barrett has taken the leap this year and the Knicks front office should put more on his plate.
Even when Barrett struggles, the Knicks must force feed him the ball and run ATOs through Barrett.
I firmly believe that Brunson, DiVincenzo, Barrett, Randle as the tertiary option, and Hartenstein is a good enough starting lineup and closing lineup, especially if the Knicks feed Hartenstein more with gadget plays since Hartenstein is also an excellent passer.
The Knicks came back against the Heat with Hartenstein on the floor, not Robinson.
I love Quickley but his inability to get his shot off in close quarters is a problem in crunch time. His constant need to shot fake, sidestep, and relocate to get his three off when the defender isn’t even that close to him is a bad habit.
Then, you see DiVincenzo when he went off against Charlotte and he was letting it fly even when he someone was glued to him.
Going back to Robinson, he is a supreme defender and rebounder, but his inability to pose any threat other than as a lob guy is a serious problem because the Knicks don’t have enough shooting to offset those deficiencies.
