NBA Reactions & Rankings: Lakers beat Cavs, 76ers-Thunder, Celtics-Magic | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf breaks down a few games from the Thanksgiving weekend of the NBA schedule. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers triumphed over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans were victorious against James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Orlando Magic are in the midst of a 7-game winning streak as they held off Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics over the weekend. Jason also releases his weekly NBA Power Rankings with the Boston Celtics as the top spot. Who else made the top 10?

  1. Washed list without the suns in the top 10. Too much turkey over the weekend, man. You’re asleep at the wheel.

  2. Laker PR machine: 4 of their 7 wins versus: PDX(2x), Utah & Memphis… 2-3 versus teams with a winning record…Come on man, the Lakers are headed to the play-in game….Eventually one of LeBron or AD will miss significant time and they will struggle to stay around .500. Just as I write the the Lakers getting walloped in the First Half by the 76ers…

  3. Suns #3 in west, 7 game win streak even with kd out, and good enough to be called a "quality win" for the lakers, but not a top 10 team? Your hater is showing a lil

  4. 1:07 Lakers vs Cavs
    16:58 Celtics vs Magic
    25:40 76ers vs Thunder
    35:14 Pelicans vs Clippers
    50:57 Power rankings

Hope this helps y'all; I saw complaints of lack of time stamps so I made one while eating a delicious Salmon + green salad that my mum made after spending 2 hours at the park working on my shot form. Hope y'all get a good meal, are working on your game and your basketball IQ!

  5. Mailbag: Hey Jason! I'm curious about star vs roleplayer growth. Take Steph and Klay, for instance (life-long Warriors fan, excuse me). Every year, as Steph loses some quickness, the league adapts to his gameplan, and his need for elite ballhandling ramps up in the playoffs, he seems to add exactly the thing to keep him effective: strength, elite ballhandling, pick-and-roll mastery, etc. On the other hand, as Klay looses some of his athleticism, he seems to degrade as a player. The loss of a step makes him a less effective defender and he doesn't seem to have the same separation he used to get that made his hot-streaks unstoppable. But he doesn't seem to add pieces to make up for these losses. Is there some difference in what's asked of stars and roleplayers that leads the former to adapt and grow and the latter to stagnate and degrade?

  6. Suns on a 7 game win streak, Book western conference player of the week. You should wear a lakers hat 🧢

  7. The bias goes like this… He's a LeBron fan who plays for the Lakers. He is part of The Volume which is owned by Colin Cowherd a LeBron fan. The Lakers and LeBron drive a lot of traffic. His bias could be personal and/or business.

He's good at what he does when his bias, either personal or business or both, doesn't cloud or drive his views. When it does, he often looks foolish like it was with Jokic and Embiid or with overrating the Lakers so far this season.

  8. Oubre was giving us damn near 20 we were 8-1 before he got hurt and we beat a fully healthy Celtics team lol he slots in that starting spot we ain’t mixing batum and roco in the starting spot batum just was batum kept missing games for personal reasons 😭

  9. we need more suns coverage man.. kd and book are both mvp candidates rn and the public never talks about it

  10. Hilarious! There needs to be voting polls to see how accurately us fans can guess when a star won't be playing. It would have been very surprising had Jokic played tonight.

  11. LAL rank last in made 3’s per game at 9.8

Tonights game Philly- 22 3pt to LAL 7 3pt. Wild.

  12. The Lakers are not a good team his bias towards them is getting a bit over the top.

  13. Bucks got soundly beaten by Boston? By 3 points ? But the lakers almost won against the mavs? Your biases really hinder your analysis sometimes

  14. Hey Jason do you think that AD should move back to the 4 spot PF because he has not been impactful as the 5. He plays better at the 4. Coach Ham needs to put him more on the 4 and let the other bigs be the 5.

  15. Gabe Vincent is not worth having on the court.. A flukey post season where he shot the lights out but he is not tall so does not disrupt enough on defence while being an average defender at best and he is actually a poor shooter.. So Gabe was overpaid and it was dumb for the lakers funnily enough after letting someone like AC walk for similar numbers.. Good on Gabe though for getting paid.

  16. The cavaliers are giving Craig Porter junior the green light because.
Every time I watch the cavs he just instantly. Attacks on offense

  17. Craig Porter junior is just proof that the NBA needs more teams because there is too much talent and not.
    Enough NBA roster spots

  18. haha him bringing up AD and only for AD to get demolished by Embiid last night is hilarious. He capped for AD and Embiid destroyed him in their matchup. Stats are stats but we all have eyes.

  19. Can the other super stars defend the way AD defends?? Or is defense not as important? At some point we have to also realize he’s a defense first player in general. It doesn’t matter what you want him to be.
