[Andrews] A league source told ESPN that the Warriors will back Draymond Green no matter what he does, while another team source told ESPN the Warriors lost leverage on disciplining him after failing to hold him accountable for punching Poole.

> The Warriors can tolerate Green, who signed a four-year, $100 million extension this summer, because he remains a vital part of the team. But once Green is no longer an effective player, a team source said, **that tolerance could run out.**

> Klay Thompson’s slump to start this season feels different. His contract negotiations are weighing on him, sources told ESPN, and he appears to be noticeably more frustrated during games. He sometimes sits on the end of the bench by himself during timeouts, or **slaps his head after taking a bad shot.**

> As for Wiggins, sources told ESPN that after missing two months last season over a still undisclosed personal matter, he didn’t take the time necessary during the summer to get back into shape ahead of this season. **His lack of physical conditioning annoyed some within the organization, a team source added.**

> Wiggins ranks last in effective field goal percentage on jumpers among players with at least 75 attempts, per Second Spectrum, and second-worst in free throw percentage among qualified players, ahead of only Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon.

> On the defensive side, the traditional lineup of Curry, Thompson, Green, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney has struggled. That group has given up 126.6 points per 100 possessions — **the second worst among five-man lineups to play at least 75 minutes together.** Last season, that lineup allowed only 106.1 points per 100 possessions.

If Warriors wish to contend this year and the next while Curry can still compete at the top, the starting lineup needs to change this trade line or next summer at the latest, at least 1 out of these 3 have to be moved

How the fuck did this dude obtain above the law status. You’ve got superstars who get techs for even talking to refs in a slightly mean tone. Meanwhile Draymond be berating them dudes and nothing! The warriors are willing to hamstring their team to protect a guy who has been an active detriment to their team in the playoffs and stinks without Steph. This shit is bizarre man it ain’t 2016 no more

    >Klay Thompson’s slump to start this season feels different.

    Klay Thompson through 16 games:

    * Last year: 53.5 TS%
    * This year: 53.8 TS%

Seems unlikely that the guy who made 300 threes last year at a 40% clip suddenly forgot how to shoot. But sources apparently *feel* that this time is different.

Wiggins looks completely lost. Klay looks like a typical slump.

They have so many issues right now, holding back prime Kevon Looney years

tricky situation for gsw. on one hand they owe everything to big 3, but on the other hand only curry is performing on all nba level, so ultimatly by respecting the big 3 they are dyning curry a chance to compete ahile je still can. will be interesting to see what comes out of it

  6. None of these ejections or suspensions will curb Draymond’s behavior because of the Warriors response whenever an incident occurs:

Not only have they chosen to passively tolerate his actions; they actively downplay these incidents by saying his “fire and passion” drives their success.

NBA reporting is hilarious. “Some people think Wiggins should be in better shape”. Glad we got that insider source.

The “league source” seems very mad that the Warriors didn’t punish their player beyond the 5-game suspension the league handed out for his on-court misconduct.

Aside from the fact that no team ever does that, it’s also likely that the Warriors would be prohibited from punishing Draymond beyond the league’s suspension.

One of the reasons Latrell Sprewell won his arbitration case after choking his coach is because it was excessive for both the Warriors and the league to punish him. From the arbitrator’s decision:

    > “The evidence indicates that there is no history of both the league and a team imposing discipline for the same violent conduct, on or off the court …. This speaks to the issue of fairness, as I see it.”

  9. Oh no, we coddled him so much he’s become completely unhinged.

Guess we have no choice but to keep doing that forever now.

“But once Green is no longer an effective player, a team source said, that tolerance could run out.”

…..this describes literally every player in every sport

  11. rustyshackleford_711

Even the front office is scared of Draymond 😂

  12. Batman_in_hiding

Man all dynasties come to an end and unfortunately the warriors are no different.

This is exactly why bob myers peaced out. He knew the day of reckoning was close and wanted to be far far away from there.

  13. FallacyFrank

Gotta love league sources stroking the cirlejerk

  14. hurrakane212

That GSW top 4 protected 1st that went to the Blazers looks real nice RN, too bad this draft is middling at the top.

  15. MunchinMonke

Don’t understand why they aren’t retooling and trying to build a contender around Curry: Sure it’s ok to be sentimental, but you’ve got a top 12 all time guy on your team, every season should be win or bust. More teams should emulate the Pats during the Brady era, a main guy that you build around, nothing more and nothing less

  16. Jicama-Smart

a team wants to try to win games and wishes its players were playing better

  17. Cudi_buddy

They will work it all out tonight against my Kings. Klay in particular always makes sure to play his A game lol. Love Curry, and I think he enjoys the rivalry and going at Fox now, which I would enjoy if he maybe wouldn’t drop 40 every game.

  18. LoveIslandFansRawk

Once the Warriors veteran player’s like Curry and Thompson didn’t call Green out for sucker-punching and knocking unconscious a smaller and much younger teammate, I knew their entire culture was DONE.

What’s this I hear about Curry being the greatest teammate ever like Duncan was? STOP

  19. >lost leverage on disciplining him after failing to hold him accountable for punching Poole.

I mean it sucks that they didn’t give him a bigger punishment. But I don’t think this is really how it works. It’s not like taking away a 6-year old’s iPad. Or even benching a high school player for missing practice. You know, life lessons.

Disciplining is not really a thing NBA teams do. They’re just hoping these adults control themselves enough to win games.

  20. Piss_Sage

Team is a fucking mess. Love curry and the warriors organization is a class act despite the Poole fiasco, but I think this team is done. The sad thing is, outside of Klay (he’s just ass now), this seems to be a chemistry issue that has finally boiled over and has effectively ended their run rather than them just being “old”. Unless the warriors make one final push with whatever assets they have the window is shut.

  21. Tprince02

If not for steph curry this franchise would have 0 championships

  22. Idk how its not clear that anyone who matters in that organization sees draymond as the heart and soul of that team. People have wanted them to dump him for at least 3 years now and it looks like they are bent on having him retire as a warrior. Pretending to care about jordan poole isn’t going to change anything.

  23. Sartheking

Lmao what brilliant new info from the sources. Never knew any of this before!

  24. misterrunon

Bob meyers is smart. Dude jumped off the titanic before jt sank

  25. NArcadia11

That whole first paragraph is just how sports works. The (insert any team here) will continue to support their star player that helps them win games as long as he continues to help them win games.

  26. RumpOldSteelSkin

The best time to start is now. You can always discipline today.

  27. Have you seen the clips of Jordan Poole from the past few days?

He (probably) 100% deserved to be punched by Draymond lmao

  28. Individual_Attempt50

And curry is just there doing nothing lol

  29. Alphadestrious

Warriors getting old, I think their run is over personally. It was crazy while it lasted, and Steph changed the game

  30. practiceyourart

A league source 😂.. If that source isn’t from the Warriors organization, those losers know absolutely nothing outside of guessing just like us.

  31. by_yes_i_mean_no

    > League source

Translation: some guy who doesn’t work for the Warriors

  32. SmokyOtter

The warriors front office is full of pussies it sounds like

  33. bigatjoon

breaking news, player with long term contract has more leverage than player whose contract is running out. Additionally, an organization will lose tolerance for players who are not effective on the court. GREAT analysis!

Also, Wiggins’ personal matter has very much been disclosed — his father had a serious health issue.

  34. TheeMalaka

Nobody ever saw wiggins not taking ball serious before what a shocking series of events.

  35. codguy231998409489

Implosion soon… too many headcases and too old

  36. shabba_skanks

We sold our souls for the rings mang. Now is the time to see if we can sustain any semblance of being contenders, or go back to them dark ass days prior to 2010 🙁

  37. Frankly I think it’s even dumber to assume Draymond is going to change at this point in his career. He has nothing to prove and has won four rings as a critical player. He’ll be a Hall of Famer. You can hate him all you want but they lost the leverage to discipline him about 8 years ago.

  38. prezdizzle

Does this justify Cuban blowing up the Mavs after their championship? They were old and this is the outcome he was trying to avoid I’d imagine.
