1. Washington demolished Detroit tonight. Yes, the Detroit that Carlisle almost lost to, until Turner/Brown/Nembhard decided to carry his arse to a win.
2. Carlisle continues to play small ball, non-stop. Then wonders and complains about getting owned by forwards and about his players not caring enough to get more rebounds. Brown is good. He should not be guarding Grant. Nesmith is good. He should not be guarding massive PFs and centers. None of that is Brown/Nesmith's fault.
3. Carlisle continues his 3-point tunnel vision and it continues to be the be-all and end-all of Indiana's success/failure.
4. Carlisle is not helping Mathurin and he is killing Walker's career. And btw, Rick's reputation – as far as rookies go – has never been good.
Long story short – Richard Shannon Carlisle (or whatever the f*ck his middle name is) is one of the most overrated coaches in the entire NBA right now.
This was the same way they played the Magic. Finally admitted it, they aren't getting up for some team's. I hope this trend doesn't continue. It shows our immaturity. We've always been a great home team. Our guy's need to take pride in playing at home. They've been playing better on the road. Which I'm very happy about. However no matter who you're playing. We have to give effort on both side's of the ball. I feel we're getting too relaxed because we're at home and mainly when playing certain team's.
We did a good job of keeping it close. However we should have turnt it up by the end of the 3rd once the starters came back in. Then played our fast transition game. We allowed them to dictate the pace. We didn't defend guy's at all shooting the 3. Idc if the guy shooting isn't the best. Once he makes one the way he did in rythem. You have to close out on him and not let it happen again. They kept allowing him to shoot open 3's. I thought Haliburton played decent, McConnell and Brown were solid. But we need more from our other guy's. Specifically Mathurin, Turner, Obi and Hield. I thought Nembhard and Smith were great as well. Getting Aaron Nesmith back should help us a lot. I would like to see Aaron Nesmith get some solid minutes at the SG. On nights where Hield or Mathurin isn't playing well, they could utilize Nesmith who's a great shooter and a solid defender. We could take out other team's SG's with Nesmith. Having Nesmith and Brown on the floor at the same time could be great for us defensively. I don't see him being used enough. I understand why we use him more at the SF and PF. Because we need him there, but I'd be interested to see what he can do at the SG as well. If the right matchups allowed it. Maybe should have thrown Jackson on Grant and had Smith on Ayton. That's what I would have done.
We need to use our fans and get our energy up. Take advantage of being at home and don't allow anyone to come in and beat us on our home court. Take some pride at home and take it personally. Use that as your motivation. Have the mentality that you aren't coming in our house and getting an easy win. We should be looking to snatch souls at home. This team needs to figure it out defensively. Even offensively they didn't move the ball enough like usual. Sloppy turnovers, we know how to play great offense. We only need to figure out as to why we aren't bringing that same energy each night. While Rick Carlisle needs to rally our guy's and call it out when it's happening. We need someone to step up and be a voice. Say hey! We looking to win this game, or we gonna give it away! Pull your heads out your azzes and let's get this W!! Lol Where's Pat Bev when you need him. Lol. Smith has potential to be a solid big man down low. He needs to use his body even more. He's strong and I wish Turner was more so. We need our bigs to be very aggressive down low. Hook guy's push them out the way and BOX OUT. Grab those boards like your life depends on it. DEFEND THE PAINT. Lay your weight into guy's, push back on them and rise up to block weak azz shots. NO EASY BASKETS INSIDE. Turner has been has been really good in spurts. Yet we need him to keep that energy. He's doing well in those spurts, yet still not even aggressive enough. He could get so many more board's with proper boxouts and fighting his way into position. Something I think Smith could be very good at. I hope Smith isn't out for long, we need him so bad. Get that man a contract extension asap. Heild and Mathurin really need to step up their game in all area's though. I'm not seeing enough at all from them and if it were me I'd be looking to Nesmith because of it.
I think Oscar should definitely get used here. We need Smith desperately. This is a great time for Oscar to get some real experience though. We need the rebounding so bad and I've been wanting to see what a strong, long rebounding focused hustle player could do for us. He seems to be that guy and smart. If he could set solid screens and roll fast to the rim. He could be a great player for us. His wingspan at his height could be a force inside. I could see them using Jarace some. However I think we need to see Oscar right now.
I blame this loss on Josh Giddey
First of all. They're always trying to make the home run pass. Sometimes they need to keep it simple. Second they need more offensive oroduction from the small forward position Brown should be with 2nd unit. Third either give Jarace some minutes at pf or try Oscar. We need beef up there because gets rebounds sometimes. If Myles is not hitting shots, he is not rebounding Back to the small forward position, get T J Warren. He's never got the chance to play with Tyrese and we need a strong wing that can score inside and in the midrange. Him and Mathurin would be awesome assuming he's completely healed.
Too small…btw Grant is available.
This team bout to go on a lengthy road trip. They are going to maybe win two games during that stretch. Also Rick has a circus show of rotations. He was doing some clown level stuff last night
The defensive system is horrible. I don’t know what Rick is trying o find out or prove. No one can guard nba players one on one
It was a very frustrating game indeed. Just could not get in rhythm in terms of shots and placement for passes. Usually just a few players but it was infectious. It happens but exposes all our weaknesses – total reliance on hitting 3s and keeping pace, desperately trying for a stop and then when we get one (which we did several times) not being able to take advantage.
I am concerned about Stix’s knee. That hyperextended pretty badly. Hope he’s okay. Time to maybe explore rookies but I assume heading into the tourney RC isn’t going to experiment much with them. Not seeing our rookies almost at all this year is concerning. If the team is playing like this he may want to consider them more. Thoughts?
Can we for the love of god get a real center that can hold the rebounds down consistently
Bennedict drives to the rim, ball gets stripped, other team runs it up the court and Bennedict has his arms in the air angry at the refs.
Pacers are terrible against power forwards and centers!!! Meanwhile we drafted Walker and stole Oscar T!!! THERE HAS TO BE A LINEUP CHANGE!!! Carlisle, your lineups are trash!!! How about developing a lineup that focuses on defense instead of offense!!! Tony, ask Carlisle the tough questions!!! Is he willing to shake up the lineup to focus on defense???
Myles continues get out played by elite big men. Needs to better with fouls. If he is leader he has to do better with body language. I feel at times nembhard can turn the ball over at crucial times. But this pacers still young but id say by trade deadline or the off-season might have to look at getting haliburton some help. Id be willing to trade anyone besides haliburton and mathurin. Mathurin is in a slumo of somewhat. I do feel like bruce needs to step up, he has alot on his plate guarding the best opposition but carlise might have to give him the green light to be more aggressive to get his shot
Yes, Josh Giddy’s shenanigans with a minor has our team distracted
Pacers are a high variance team due to their top tier offense and dreadful defense. Can lose to bad teams when the offense is not clicking.
I want to see jarace with jackson nesmith nembhard and mathurin 😁…
Bad luck for jalen hopefully he can back sooner pacers need him
Its a learning lesson for them. I like the fact they are losing some this early so they can learn early and hopefully by end of January they will be mature enough to win those expected wins.
