@Los Angeles Lakers

Congrats to Matt Ryan, Alex Caruso, Lonnie Walker, and Malik Beasley

…for being in the top 13 in 3P% in the league this season now that they’re no longer with the Lakers. 🤨

If this isn’t proof there’s a lakers shooting tax then I don’t know what is

  2. thesqrrootof4is2

Are the Lakers just…cursed with this tax lmao

  3. Spaghettibeach

do guys get here and just stop practicing? i don’t understand it, how do you have Phil Handy on staff and your shooters can’t shoot shit?

  4. Nothappened

Maybe it’s that God awful offensive scheme we run, where LeBron holds the ball and nobody else does anything other than stand still, players need to touch the ball and move then they get in rhythm

  5. arthur_dayne222

Is this lebron tax? I wonder if there is any data about players coming to lakers pre lebron.

  6. myelrecsy

I guess, not on spotlight and not rediculed every game loosens those shooting hands.

  7. randy88moss

Completely mind boggling…..like, these dudes were bricking WIDE ass open shots as lakers….like horribly miss. Now they’re back to shooting like curry when they leave. It’s been like this since Kobe/Shaq days

Bro what?! Troy Brown Jr with 17 tonight. Just wanted him to make one 3 with LA

  9. Ima_hydra__bitch

In Los Angeles, these players get distracted. They are living the high life; they got restaurants, clubs, Disneyland, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Instagram hotties galore.

But then they go to these drab boring cities in the middle of the country like Minneapolis and Sacramento. There, these players got nothing to do except play basketball.

So that’s the LA tax. Live like a celebrity and shoot like a Laker, or be stuck in a gym in the middle of nowhere and shoot like Steph Curry.

Or to put it another way, it’s like the Lakers are Rocky moving to Los Angeles and getting soft and losing to Clubber Lang. But the ex-Lakers have gone to Siberia to train hard and beat up Drago.

  10. Troy brown junior was the closer for the win against OKC yesterday.lol

I really want Steph Curry to become a Laker in his final year or something just to test this theory out. No way a Lakers jersey destroys the greatest shooter of all time

Props to Matt! Still amazes me how he went from delivering doordash to (now) delivering buckets!!!

The lights in Crypto real bright when the court gold

FUCK! just saw malik monk hit a game winner against GSW tonight. i thought GSW had the game in the bag so i turned it off in the 4th.

happy for Monk too. he’s been killing it with the Kings.

  15. theseustheminotaur

In other stadiums you can barely hear the crowd because of all the music they pump in game long. Maybe that factors into the laker shooting tax?

  16. Markel100

Only one on this list who shot good as a laker was lonnie walker at 36.5 problem was his defense

  17. as someone else mentioned here already, the “laker tax” is a combination of a couple of things.

    1. its just the added pressure of playing for the most popular/hated franchise.
    2. having to play on a minimum deal and being worried about your future(most guys we can afford are minimum type guys)
    3. the city itself has alot of distractions

and 4. having a huge fanbase that has alot of idiots that will harass you and your family if you dont play well consistently or arent a fan favorite since the beginning.

every fanbase has idiots, but bc of the size of ours, we have way more. i imagine malik in milwaukee still has some haters, buts its probably a handful compared to last season when alot of fans were harassing him on IG on during a Bday party

  18. KingNephew

There’s no Lakers tax, this team just collects mediocre to ok shooters and has some of the worst/non-existent schemes/movement in the league. Of course no one can hit shots when it’s just drive and kick.

  19. Finn_Survivor

Before people start crying. Caruso has a higher 3p% with the Lakers than he does with the bulls

Lonnie Walker shot better with the Lakers than he did the 2 years prior to joining

Malik Beasley shot the same percentage in 22/23 after getting traded as he did in Utah

It’s so early into the season , none of these averages are sustainable

  20. LeFatigue

Oh god here come the idiots with the “laker tax” the lakers haven’t had a coach that prioritizes 3 point shooting ever. Not one. MDA is the closest and he got Jodie Meeks a damn near 50 ball.

The “lakers tax” is the inability of this franchise to adapt to the modern game.

  21. newperson77777777

have any of these players acknowledged why their shooting is better now?

  22. coolnasir139

This post shows exactly why players do better off the lakers. Toxic ass fans. Still throwing shade at these guys even once they are gone. No big free agent wants to play for the lakers for a reason. Too much media and fan scrutiny. If you want to go to LA big agents are now choosing the clippers
