Omer Yurtseven Is The Backup Center The Utah Jazz Need

In this video we discuss the recent emergence of Omer Yurtseven and what it means for the overall rotation in place on the Utah Jazz roster. There were many opportunities to play in the absence of Walker Kessler and when Coach Will Hardy finally allowed Omer to touch the court, he made sure he was effective in the minutes that he had. On a roster with so many questions, it would seem as though they have managed to find one of their needed answers.

  1. I thought he did a good job in summer league and that he should have been in the rotation from the opening day. Also, Kessler's injury was clearly holding him back, which is good to know. Definitely curious to see if the Jazz can build momentum and keep up the defensive effort. If so, maybe this season doesn't have to be a tank-a-thon.

  2. its easy agree with everything in this video. Yurtseven has been quite good indeed.

Also i do like when you said that now its all abt guards how then can create opportunities for bigs. Everything start from guards, in offence and defence. Those guards are the ones in defence who cant let opponent go by them too easily. If they are like road cones, sometimes bigs can still make stops in the paint but more often than not they are in situation what is impossible to defend. In offence guards are the ones who usually have the ball when offence set started and they need to make right reads where pass the ball, or shoot the ball. Whatever is right decision depends also what defence take away and what they allow offence to do. I cant emphasiszes enough how important that guard play is. Those are even more valuable players than bigs. Unfortunately that guard play has been big problem for early in the season, but now things are going in to right direction. Its still not as good it should to be and what i expected it to be but at least direction is now right.

I can easily imagined situation where Yourtseven would be in the court early in the season and when jazz took all those losses because horrible guard play, he wouldnt get another chance. He is really lucky when they did put him on the court now when guard play has been better. It helped Yurtseven show what he can do. He is good player, but it always also need lot of luck to be in right situation when they give player first real opportunities to show what they can do.

  3. As impressive as Yurtseven has been, I dont see him in the Jazz rotation when all of Kessler, Collins, Olynyk and Markkanen are healthy. Should get some time when someone is injured and matchup dependant; the opponent has a big dominant center like the Nuggets with Jokic. Yes Yurtseven has 3 point ability but do does Collins, Olynyk and Markkanen. Great depth player in the squad, next big in, but not in the rotation as I see it when all the bigs are healthy. More reason Taylor Hendricks will probably spend this season in the GLeague

  4. It's so interesting seeing several players shine in their own way on this team. To me that means that we'll have a lot of tradable players and we could consolidate to get better
