I love Dlo as a laker. Can tell he loves this team. Yes he can be inconsistent in scoring the ball, but our whole roster outside of Lebron has been too. For when he isn’t scoring he is still showing solid playmaking and defensive ability this year. He is on a cheap contract and is averaging solid stats this year, yet so many lakers fans cant see past this Denver series and the occasional bad game. It’s crazy. Trading this man and one of rui or reaves and a pick for an expensive player who only knows how to score is insane. Can’t wait to see lakers fans reactions when Lavine goes out and shoots 1/8. The problem isn’t Dlo and it hasn’t been all year

I think true basketball observers see the value that Dlo provides. His teammates as well.
Love that he’s a laker, still have his jersey from his first stint with us. He’s quietly been our 3rd best player this year while reaves and reddish get all the flowers.
But by no means should he be untouchable for the right return. I don’t think a lavine return is worth it.
DLo gets little hate from Laker fans because there’s little expectations. If he’s hot, great. If he’s not then he’s benched. There’s no DLo expectations night-to-night. It also means that Laker fans are more than happy to trade DLo if it means getting a more reliable, All NBA caliber player. The debate isn’t whether to trade DLo, it is whether Lavine is actually a consistent All NBA guy.
In contrast, Anthony Davis gets a ton of hate because there are clear expectations when it comes to his offensive production, especially when going up against other elite offensive big men. When he under performs offensively it is devastating because he’s supposed to be the reliable offensive engine every single night.
DLo will never be hated or loved the way we do with AD because nobody expects anything consistent from him every single night. He’s a solid role player who thankfully isn’t overpaid. Great offensive game against a bottom feeder team tonight. We tip our cap to him and hope he can do it again tomorrow… along with some defense.
For his contract he solid but the worry is can he do this in big games and in the playoffs. Where teams can game plan against him.
DLO stats in regular season last year:
17.4ppg, 2.9 rpg, 6.1 apg 41% 3p%
in last years playoffs:
13.3 ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.6 apg 31% 3p%
until he elevates his game in the playoffs or at least matches his regular season numbers the narrative won’t change around him.
Not going to be a prisoner of the moment. Dlo has been improving on both ends but he needs to show more consistency. Imo he is a better fit as a two guard. Having another point guard & Dlo at the two will maximize his production offensively and we’ll see more game like the one today.
Just need him consistent every night no more 4 point games
the dudes just inconsistent, plays best when it doesn’t matter. He hasnt progressed, his peak was at the Nets when they were pumping him up for trade bait. Get some fresh bloods in here
its not about the stats!
Of course he can, Dlo just had a superb game.
His lack of defense and consistency makes him a weak spot when we think about fighting for a title, but he is surely a starting quality PG, just not for a title contender. He would be great in Detroit.
His problem is he’s a Steph Curry clone, but whereas Curry is an A+ handler and shooter, Russell is more of a B+ at best.
It’s the difference that makes 30 points being an amazing game for Russell and 30 points dl being an average game for Curry.
I don’t know if I see things different than the others, but right now, having a rotation of:
D’Angelo/Gabe Vincent
Cam/Reaves
LeBron/Prince
AD/Rui
Wood/Hayes
Is not that bad and would work? I know Wood is not a pure center or a defensive one. But he only needs to hold on and wait for help defense and on attacking end, he can make the 3 and also be feed on the post.
If not, trade the remainder pieces and one of those 10 to replace.
There is not a need to have 12/13 players that can contribute when in the playoffs, without injuries you won’t play more than 10.
Edit: I forgot about Vanderbilt, I think he can begin as a starter on Cam position and you would have to choose between Cam and Prince. The Lakers do not need both.
Can’t agree more. He can read the game on such a high level and he’s probably the best shooter on our team. He also tries much harder on defense this season. People who wants him traded are really not valuing him enough
