Nets – Hornets Preview: Cam Thomas returns and LaMelo Ball out

The Nets face off at home against the Hornets on Thursday in a game they really should win. Cam Thomas is back in the mix following the ankle injury and Charlotte doesn’t have LaMelo Ball who is going to be out for a while with his own ankle issue.

The Nets are -8 favorites and -360 on the moneyline meaning this should be one of their easier matchups of the year. The Locked on Nets guys go over the betting lines and what to look out for in this one.

  1. Looking at how we had to start the season ag Celtics and Bucks, down a few key guys… now we need to be persistent against everyone, flow the mojo. Lots of teams we can beat if dialed in. This is doable, keep heads together and use all we've got. It's good let's keep at it and unified.

  2. Obviously people have heard that Dorian Finney Smith Royce O Neale and Spencer Dinwiddie might be in high demand come the trade deadline…

But all three of them have been so important to Brooklyn since they arrived and bring so many intangibles…

But I can understand Brooklyn having even more draft capital and prospect players gives them a bigger avenue towards returning to contention….

But outside of the Bucks 76ers and Celtics the East is still very wide open and keeping the vets would allow this new Brooklyn core to build some real sustainability together as opposed to breaking up another what if iteration of a team that has lot's of potential to succeed….

Something to think about during this next month….

  3. After the last game against Toronto, those guys pushing for us to trade Ben for Siakham are delirious. Siakam couldn't get Toronto over the line against us, what do you think he could do for us against Boston, Dallas, Philly, the Bucks or the Nuggets? Do you really think Siakam could take us to a win against any of those teams? Really? Really. I don't think so.

What this team really needs is a coach who could sit down with Ben and tell him to improve his free throw shooting. Maybe change hands, practice 4 hours a day, see a sports psychologist or whatever it takes to get him to do something about his scoring. Because his ability in all other areas of the game is elite and I mean really really elite.

If Ben could improve his free throws up to around 80% he'd be a 20 point tripple double threat every game. Against any team.

We just need a coach who can get through to him. Maybe both a coach and a manager.

The clock is ticking Ben is 27 years old if this is going to happen it needs to start now.

Look at Nick Nurse. He's pulled Embiid aside and had a good long talk to him and what he wants to do is turn him into Jokic. Turn him into more of a facilitator while still keeping his scoring, rebounding and defensive game.

But then again maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Ben won't care at all about bball after next year. Maybe he's got other things he wants to do after next year. Because I don't think he would want to keep playing on the vets minimum for another 5 to 8 years.
