[Rubin] Gary Payton II’s MRI revealed a strained right calf, he will be re evaluated in one week. Chris Paul’s MRI revealed no structural damage to lower leg, but a nerve contusion. He will be out tonight and Saturday against Clippers, at least, Warriors announce.

  1. Hold on now, is this a possible short-term-and-not-long-term issue for both I’m seeing 👀

  2. Why did Shams report GP’s injury as a torn calf then?? Strained is a hell of a lot better than torn

  3. Intelligent-Bid-6645

Best case scenario for us. Bless 🙏🏼

Seems like from the info provided people assumed the “tear” was a “rupture”. Strains are all tears in the muscle, but to varying degrees. Grade 1 are small tears that can recover relatively quickly from. Grade 3 are ruptures where the entire muscle has separated.

GP2 injury doesn’t sound that bad now! Will get reevaluated in one week! Let’s go!

    Fucking Shams lmao

So what grade is it? Safe to assume it’s a 2 or 3? Think those can technically be classified as a “tear.” Shit, even a grade 1 is technically a tear, it’d be dope if it’s something minor. Guess you’d expect a longer timeline for re-evaluation if it was a 2/3?

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out at least a month, but being reevaluated next week for a strain sounds a hell of a lot less ominous than a ‘no-timeline tear’

  7. 1 week to revaluate is a lot better than I was expecting.

I would think he’d be out most of the season.

  8. Wait, so is GP2 done for the next 2-3 months or will he be out a week lol?

And Kerr didnt say shit about it on the radio. Although i guess he hinted at it when said both gp2 and cp3 will have mri today… after the fake news already came out and the hosts brought it up

Strained is better than torn, right? Right? Please somebody who knows what’s up tell me I’m right. Because GPII being out a few weeks is WAY better than a few months.

  11. North_Street_8547

Is it possible they are trying to make it seem less severe than it actually is?

  12. Cool, so no surgery needed? Anybody got some Toradol for GP2?

  13. Funny-Butterscotch91

I love Gp2 as much as the next guy and he was balling last game until the contusion. But maybe we have to accept that he is not very durable.

I know I will be downvoted to hell.

  14. As I said in a comment I made on the post with Shams’s tweet re: GPII’s injury, it really bothers me when he tries to speed announce injuries. Just back off and let them team make the announcement. Happy to hear Gary’s doesn’t sound as apocalyptic as Shams made it sound 🙄

Re: Gary, I do wonder if him coming back what seemed to be very quickly, relatively speaking, from the left foot strain is what led to the right calf strain, ie he was overcompensating for his left foot not being 100%. That’s usually why Celebrini’s RTP timelines are typically in two week increments (unless it’s an injury serious enough that they’re out for months).

This is best case scenario news honestly. Gotta be careful with this one, this type of injury escalates to a Achilles issue down the road.

Made my heart skip a beat. Gary is an essential X factor for us actually making noise this year. Heal up buddy, see you soon!

  17. AmelieBenjamin

NGL y’all if GP2 was gone for the year we were fucked anyway, there’s an argument he’s our best defender even with Dray on the team

  18. Baconator218

Nah let’s not have a Portland situation, let the man heal.
