Nikola Jokic and Nuggets have formed the “greatest lineup of all time” | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf discusses the roster of Denver Nuggets as they continue their quest to repeat as NBA champions. Jason explains how the Nuggets have built the greatest starting lineup the NBA has ever seen as each player compliments one another perfectly. Jason later goes on to explain how Nikola Jokic is the most unguardable player in NBA history.

  1. In a league devoid of big men who can actually take Jokic down low and punish him on offense Jokic is a giant. He doesn’t really have to work on defense

  2. I'd say Pope would have to be the takeaway guy. Gordon and Porter just give so much versatility at that size, that besides having Jokic, could be the Nuggets best advantage.

  3. As a Lakers Fan, when you see that Jokic hasn't had an All Star on his team ever. Its crazy, Jokic is getting better and better. He is honestly the best player in the league. A critique i have is sometimes he doesn't try on Defense. Not saying he plays non but its the effort.

  4. Warriors KD death lineup. May not be the very best complimentary pieces but they simply destroyed their competition.
The other part that irks me is that Denver won 1 title. They are fantastic but let’s wait and see how many more they get before they are crowned “the best lineup ever” lol.

Ps I despised the KD move to GS. It was 3 straight seasons of….we know who’s winning it this year. That groups last finals run ended because of crippling injuries. Simple as that.

  5. Hey Jason got a question for you. I left a snarky remark saying Warriors KD death lineup was the best lineup. Can you talk about them, and then compare and see how they would matchup against the nuggets. Talk strengths, weaknesses and X factors. Then crystal ball what if it on who would win in a 7 game series. Thanks for the content as always!

  6. ?? did you block me??
Just posted something and it disappeared… Are you deleting things you don't like?

    Seriously!?

i said enjoy the pain… it's a sign you're still alive. Not smart. Alive.

  7. that is just the same premise with everyone that ever won the title. so this argument is moot and non starter to begin with. when was the last time a team won without their 5 starters? almost never 😂.

  8. Definitely KCP. Everyone else is so versatile and efficient in their role. That's not to say KCP isn't one of the best 3 and D role players but there is quite a bit of guards that could fill in with very similar skill sets.

  9. Ya Think! They are deep enough to beat the Clippers without Murray, Joker and Gordon. Porter is 6.10 too is attacking the rim more this year .

  10. Dame is a more polished shooter than Jamal Murray.. he’s not a better player when u add in size defense create space off the dribble or playing off ball

  11. I love you Jason, but let’s be real, this Nuggets team isn’t better than the KD Warriors. That team has 4 first ballot hall of famers and a fifth borderline hall of famer.

  12. I think you can take KCP, or MPJ out, and still win a chip. Gordon/Murray/Jokic and any other 2 NBA starters can win a chip. Take any of those guys out and they’re a playoff team, but not championship team, unless Jokic is out, then the team is middle of the pack.

  13. I have to respect this take. A Lakers fan would know how it is to go up against the Nuggets starting five

  14. The yearly disrespect to the goat. Lebron been averaging 30 a game for 21 years now. Every few years a player comes along and does it for like 2 or 3 years they immediately get thrown into the lebron convo. How can you say LeBron isn’t the most unguardable player when nobody has been able to do ANYTHING to slow him down since he entered the league??

  15. I can understand people taking a handful of guys over Jamal Murray for various strengths, but Jamal Murray is one of the most complete guards in the NBA. If you take an inventory of his abilities, he's sort of got it all- On ball creation, off ball threat, good playmaker, good size, good shooter. Able to punish smaller players by posting up. I think he's become a good defender. Too big to take advantage of. He sort of has everything a guard needs. I can't think of many players you could swap with him that wouldn't be a downgrade in some area. You can say Dame is a better player, but he doesn't have Jamal's size, post game, and defense, for example

  16. That 86 Boston Celtic team of Ainge, DJ, Bird, McHale and Parish was killer. All solid defenders, Mchale was a beast in the post, both guards were good offensive players and Larry Legend who could command an offense like Jokic and had that clutch gene. I'm a huge Nuggets fan but I don't think our starting 5 is quite there yet.

  17. And them taking out the clippers without Gordon, Jokic and Murray! Reggie Jackson and Jordan killing it. Our bench is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 too.

  18. When you got a team whose every starting player complements each other and your star player is undoubtably the best player in the league, you are automatically a title contender. Last year, they were already a contender team from the beginning despite not succeeding yet. This year, people have already seen the possibility.

I don’t care what Boston is doing in the east. They are not ahead of Denver.

Denver is so good at creating high quality shots in so many ways. In the worst case scenario, Jokic says “okay, I give up. I will do it myself” and starts to score himself at the post. And you still have no solution to Denver’s Plan C.

  19. Warriors Hamptons 5 2016-2017, 2017-2018 was insane. Unstoppable offense with a stifling defense. Everybody in that lineup could effectively guard 1-5 (except Steph) and that’s with dpoy draymond, all defense 45% from three Klay, absolutely locked in kd on both ends at his peak, 68% true shooting Steph curry, and a perfect athlete glue guy in Iggy. This nuggets lineup is def scary and i would be terrified to face them in the playoffs, but this warriors lineup was just unfair. I think they were something like plus 15 net rating in that playoff run if I’m not mistaken.
