So, let me get this straight – Jarace makes a mistake in garbage time, therefore he gets 0.0 of real playing time to implement the "defend well and you will get more of real play time" rule.
Meanwhile, Buddy Hield gets demolished on defense over and over and over and over again, literally WALKS AWAY from Robinson ( which leads to Duncan hitting an open three ), bricks poorly set up threes again and again and again…. and he plays 'till the game ends.
Either Rick is a point blank bad coach or… Actually, I have no other explanation.
You can usually gauge a team 20 games in when healthy. They will be a streaky shooting team with poor defense for rest of season. This squad will not be good enough to make playoffs as constructed. Their identity of who they want to be with the lineup they have isn't talented enough. Duh, damn obvious.
A smaller defender on a bigger player will get more fouls. Easier to play defense great every game than it is to play offense
Now we're totally screwed. Tyrese will be exhausted by next game.
Having followed team since late 60's, I am thankful to the Simons for the stability. I would sure like to see a team come to the Yum Center in Louisville though
1. think they need someone to step up or appoint one or 2 people to step up when defense is all in hali.
2. Bruce and myles should step up leadership on defense. The team really struggling on defwnse.
3. Myles need to step up if he really wants to be an all star
4. What is happening to mathurin and nembhard? They should be the one stepping up once hali is the focus of defense.
Tony will never question the coaching—yes, without Bam we should’ve attacked the rim—and we also got out rebounded pathetically—that’s not always the players’ faults when our coach seemed more concerned about going smaller than Spoelstra—who had too—Carlisle’s a pure fool!
Ive refrained from bashing Carlisle but this was the final straw. Hes completely lost Me.

With Mathurin starting Pacers beat Philly, Milwaukee and Cleveland. So they get blown out by A VERY good Orlando team and Carlisle scapegoats Mathurin???

Goga is balling in Orlando and theyve won like 7 straight with Him as their starter. He was released by Indiana and Carlisle wouldnt play Him for momths.

Its Carlisle's and Tyrese job to integrate Mathurin. Its not Mathurins job. Carlisle has taken almost all his shine and im sorry Tyrese can do a better job of getting him involved. Its too damn bad he would rather play with Buddy. This isnt the 8th grade.
If Tyrese REALLY wants to win hed be getting Mathurin way way more involved and be in Carlisle's ear and be completely against Buddy starting.
Buddy is NOT A STARTER. BUDDY IS NOT A WINNING BASKETBALL PLAYER. That play with Duncan Robinson where he half ass raised his hand up then turned and went toward the basket and leaving Duncan to bury an open 3 is Buddy Hields entire NBA career in a nutshell.
Not sure which was worse, Buddy fouling 90 percent free throw shooter Robinson with like 3 seconds on the shot clock or when he did the other play i just described.

Hes a decent player but hes closer to a 3rd string point guard then being a starter.
The Team needs to get tougher!! Our practices need to be more excruciating.. Our players need to be introduced to misery and uncomfortable situations. Every turnover and blown defensive assignment should come as a cost, and repaid the next day. It will suck and be uncomfortable.. But the Team will be become tougher and more disciplined. Just explain to them ahead of time why we must change our practices. To be a Champion takes many sacrifices!! And is NEVER EASY!!! BE A CHAMPION STARTING TODAY!!!!!!!!!!
I like Rick Carlisle as head coach, but it looks to me like it's a coaching problem. The defense and rotations is terrible.

Rick stunting the growth of the team to try and win now so we can make the play in. He doesn’t want to develop players. Guaranteed hed have all vets if it was his choice. This guy got lucky when he won a ring in Dallas. He hasn’t ever done anything has a coach since. Besides being removed from Dallas because of his reluctance of playing and developing talent
They need to trade Buddy and bring Manthrun back to starting lineup. I just don’t know why buddy is in the starting lineup he completely stink on the defensive side of the ball.
After this tournament is over, it'll be time to flip the switch back over to developmental mode. They've played well this season, if streaky. They won their group and they deserve a chance to play it out. And part of that is playing these lead-in games. After that, though, it's clear that this team still needs some more work.
If the Pacers lose the Boston in the tournament, why are we not at home when we ate 4-0?
This is what happens when u draft inthe top 10 and dont even play the guy. Why draft 5 players just to send them all to the g league? Pacers dont want to win a championship
Coaches decision for me would have been to start with Nesmith or Mathurin and Hield might get lucky to get 6 mins.. I'd ripped Turner azz a new one and brought up Oscar and Jarace. Maybe Shepp see few mins. Then Hali was doing too much with shooting too many 3s. But he needs the right guys on the floor. Nembhard and McConnell would have ran the 2nd unit.. But Oscar and Jarace should have played that night. Rick needs not be she and put his foot down, or in some players azzes. We could have won this game.

Yeah i agree they still need more talent. Pacers need a #2 option and another ball handler on the roster
The issues with the pacers are the same as last yr. They keep shooting 3 points shot when it is not falling in. For the whole game they were shooting two points pretty well but still shooting threes instead. During the fourth quarter quarter they should drive the ball inside or attempt more 2 pointers when they were only down by 3 points. Bad coaching and bad game planning. You play this game toward your strengths and the three points shots were not it.
Carlisle was outcoached again!!! Everyone was loving life in the 1st half which is fools gold! Then the Heat adjusted and doubled Hali…and the Pacers kept bricking 3’s!!! When the Heat took a commanding lead, Carlisle copied the Heat and started doubling…but the Heat played smart and attacked the basket for easy points! I’m sick of the Pacers being clueless and blowing double digit leads!!! It’s time to FIRE CARLISLE!!!

I don't care that Mathurin isn't exactly doing great, he needs to be starting. Heild isn't as good as he was last year and it's asinine to keep stunting Mathurins ability to find his place in the starting line up.
I get were trying to win, but with Carlisle constantly trying to not start mathurin and not even trying to play jarace, I just think he's not very good at developing. It's kindve on the player and if they don't outright have a good game every night, he's gonna bench em.
The sophmore slump exists and especially with the coaching staff and Mathurin himself putting more responsibility on his plate at the same time. I can see why he's struggling, but relegating him to be our 6th man barley getting 25 minutes a game is stupid.
