Will The Utah Jazz Bench Keyonte George?

As we know the Utah Jazz have been struggling to find the ideal fit for a starting lineup across the entirety of their roster and there have been many interesting ones rolled out. That being said they need to make adjustments in the short term so that they don’t find themselves at the bottom of the league and surrendering a valuable draft pick next year as opposed to this year when the draft is considerably weaker.

In this video we discuss the proposal of starting Kris Dunn at point guard and allowing Keyonte George to work on his shooting touch, passing, and defense in a slightly limited role that makes his issues less pronounced in the outcome of the overall gameplan. It isn’t the most popular opinion, but it is one worthy of a thought by Will Hardy and the front office at the least.

  1. well said my friend, with the caveat to have KG & dunn/agbaji playing together. KG has a knack for playmaking, and kris Dunn complement him very well with his defensive skillset. to make it work, we need an offensive force though to play alongside this pair. preferable Lauri when he recovers, and before that happens we are in a tight spot. i'd add Olynyk temporarily to starting 5, and the other 2 positions could be filled depending on the opponent Jazz is facing.

  2. Interesting thought, this roster is crazy. I think Hardy is in experiment mode until trading some players. Keyonte is a little banged up. Yes let’s bring in Dunn to see what happens.

  3. Genuine question, do you think it’s beneficial to keep keyonte starting for his development? Just considering the value of the time on the floor vs other teams starters…

  4. Love the added video clips and graphics! ❤

Unfortunately i still have to be class half empty kind of guy about the roster. I just can't see the potential for the team to compete for anything more than last play-in spot. I personally feel, it's more beneficial in longer run to just tank and give the likes of George and Hendrics as much responsibility as possible. Even as the next draft class is considered to be empty, there are some interesting prospects. Personally i feel that Alexandre Sarr for example might have the potential to become a really good NBA player.

  5. Bad take, we’re not even a play in team. Maximizing Keyonte’s development is way more important than winning games at this point

  6. The clips are a nice addition bro good work 👍🫡 I agree with your Kris Dunn take. Keyonte may be a better suited pg while playing with the bench. Have Dunn play with the starters and have him take more 3 attempts and we could have a stacked roster

  7. Agreed man. I think Dunn and Sexton need to be the starting backcourt . Too much responsibility for George . I think it’ll help everybody

  8. Hardy have talked a lot about how they are doing things for the moment when they are ready to compete in the big games and for the championship. He has talked how it's important for Keyonte to get as much experience in the clutch and also normal end of the game situations because you can't simulate them. You need to live through them.

Also Hardy has been talking about how Keyonte can't pass up the chances to shoot when he is open. So I think he is doing exactly what is asked from him. All rookies shoot badly, we need to be patient with that.

  9. I say let Keyonte work his way out of his poor shot making by continuing to play as the starter and gain confidence while also building leadership and knowledge. The Jazz are not going to be playing for anything this year other then building solid team skills and comradery and we already know Keyonte is too good for the gleague etc… so he's just gotta keep learning and building and just figure it out.

  10. How many teams have rookie starters that don't have a great supporting staff are winning games. Nothing against Dunn he's good, but he's unfortunately not part of the Jazz s future.

  11. So you would rather be a middle of the pack team to mediocre team with Kris Dunn gaining a few more wins then Keyonte rather then to play Keyonte to help his NBA learning experience, while also getting a high draft pick in the next draft to help with this teams upper tier talent deficiency's that may help propel the Jazz's winning percentages in the future seasons to come? Hope I explained that question right.

  12. Its not the worst take, I would also prefer Keyonte sitting near the coaches so they can point out things as they happen in real time. It maybe even stoke a fire in the young man to get his starting job back by playing better.
Remember that Walker Kessler only started late last season, so as long as Keyonte takes the changes in stride, I say go for it.
