The Celtics played down to a Sixers teams decimated by injuries and illnesses and it nearly cost them. Jayson Tatum was ejected for talking too much to the refs, and John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal says both sides are to blame. That, plus, the human nature aspect of this game that’s impossible to avoid, the heroics of Al Horford and Payton Pritchard, and more.

Pritchard and Horford were the guys down the stretch-both were huge in the 4th. And that double block Al had on Tobias Harris was ruthless! F*ck it. A win is a win is a win. Should be a fun one on Monday w/Indy. Hope Celts are ready to run. Get some sleep John and thanks as always! ☘️🔒
Ugly win but sometimes it’s like that! I knew Celtics would play down there competition lolll. It made it so much worst for the Sixer fans though, they thought they had the win all game and we steal it at the end 😂. They’re so mad! Talking about Celtics got exposed lol. We do this all the time, they know. They just acting like we went hard on them. 😂 makes them feel better! They had a lot to say the whole game! Nothing to say at the end!
PP and Horford won this game for us!
What impresses me most and excites me is that we are 15-4 (2 losses in OT) best record in the league despite having played the 2nd most difficult opponent schedule so far and our Best players still have yet to round into proper form. Mid season Tatum and Porzingis are something else. Can’t wait. ☘️💪😊
fully agree with your assessment of the game, John. Why is it that the Celtics had 16 turnovers against a bottom feeder team like the Chicago Bulls? In the game against the 76-ers they had 20. I mean it's on Joe Mazzulla to find solutions to this problem.
Tatum with 17 turnovers in the last 3 games (5.7 tpg), and the casuals think Brown is the turnover machine. Lol
We can win with White and Horford 2 v5
John i want your thoughts on this. You think Tatum latley past 8 games outside of the hornets game has been less aggressive on offense and a lil too laid back and letting the others cook. I feel he is at his best when his shot attempts are around that 18-25 range. He too good of a scorer to be taking 13,14,16 shots only. Dont love this version of him. Need to find that balance of being aggressive and when to trust others but his playmaking not Elite enough to take that very few shots. Why not use holiday and white more to set him up. I know everyone is sacrificing i jus dnt know it helps his game despite great efficiency
How many tee’s do you own.
Tatum is slowly slipping back into turnover Tatum and crybaby Tatum. As a team, the TOs are getting ridiculous. Every TO is a lost opportunity to at least attempt a shot.
I get why he gets upset bc they don’t call things they’re supposed to call for him they watched him get hacked and ppl bumping him and don’t call shit but other superstars get everything called for them like Embiid or Giannis so I see why he’s aggravated it’s not fair and ppl say he’s always complaining but other superstars do it too like Luka and Lebron watch how they go off when they don’t get calls but they wont get ejected the refs just don’t like Tatum
I just watched a Boston Bruins game on Thursday where players were intentionally punching, cracking each other with sticks and smashing faces into the sideboards. Like, just punching the crap out of each other and no player got ejected.
What's the difference between basketball and hockey? I wonder. 🤔
Are we becoming The 2017 Steelers?
Pat Bev looked like Alan Iverson last night lolol. JT gave in to frustration w the refs. JB just not as good w/o KP on the floor w him. Thank God we got Al and D White – guys who just know how to play the game and do their job without depending on any direction from a coach.
I’m proud that the Celtics didn’t struggle and throw in the towel in the 4th no they came out and took care of business
And showed the 76ers and refs they played games with the wrong people
Al DOMINATED ☘️☘️☘️
The Celtics won because they had better players available. The Sixers played much better but it wasn't enough.
End of the day jayson has to be smarter. Refs were soft but he knew the situation and let his emotions get the best of him. He was barking all night and crying all night and it lead to a lot of easy buckets for Philly
I am still waiting for Brown to show he deserves the big bag. As of yet, he has not.
Nick Nurse, Spoelstra, these two coaches know how to design a defensive game plans. I think the 76ers knew if they wanted to win, they had to come from a different angle. They sucked yes, but that team played desperate, that 76ers bunch was good but unfortunately wouldn’t be sustainable. Celtics probably had a game plan that got changed last minute. Nick nurse is a good coach and had temporary solutions, a film session on this would make the 76ers pay. Celtics adjusted on the fly, so I’m not worried about their poor play when the game plan was probably originally designed to play their stars.
See, they "respected" the 76rs bench and didnt run up the score.
I was there yesterday 😂it was crazy let go Cs
Lmao this dude overreacting more than ESPN
Tatum needs to learn a lesson from getting tossed. Otherwise, I hope they keep tossing him because he’s choosing to be on the bad side of the refs even in the post game interviews.
Beverly had Tatum beat by about 6 tantrums. Was he ejected? Did he even get 1 tech? Nothing. The Sixers always have the refs in their pockets. But big Al still the Sixers daddy.
I think Tatum is prolly going through something or coasting til a certain point of the season
Refs has been way out of hand. They are handing out techs for any reason. This was an ugly win but one that was needed. Bench got playing time stepped up
Celtics beat the sixers bench not by much if Harris didn’t get blocked 600 times and turn the ball over they would have won
Whenever the opposing team has length and quick hands, Tatum/Brown become turnover machines. Nick Nurse and Erik Splostra seem to always give the Celtics trouble
I think we are seeing just how important KP really is to this team.
☘️☘️👊
John is gonna blame jb for everything 😂
Tatum needs to be careful but those refs should not be officals they were a joke all night
Intro song is 🔥
Did anybody else see mazzulla leaving Beverly flat in the end of the game when he went to shake mazzulla's hand😂😂
Did you forget that we were missing people in Philadelphia and still won the game. If you want to go work for another team go ahead. When did a win not count as a win. And one more thing these guys are professionals they are all better than your average joe so take the win and stop complaining about a game that's over with.
Brown definitely got his hand on that second put back for the block. If you slow it down you can see his hand shoving the ball against the glass and Horford touching it afterwards. If Jaylen did not do that, Horford would have been just a half second too late for the second block. Jaylen did a good job slowing down 76ers runs, initiating the Celtic’s runs, and supporting everyone. He did all the little things and his +/- shows it but does not encapsulate all of it. I did not learn anything from Horford, Pritchard, White or Holiday. We all knew they could do what they did. Jaylen being a top-notch support player? That was the greatest suprise. If you subtract Queta and Kornet minutes the game would not have been as close. Addition through subtraction.
2 things about this game. One, Bald Jesus saved us in this one. D White is just a pro's pro. Two, if Banton works on his shot this summer and sees some results he could be a solid, solid NBA player with is size, length and hustle.
As cliche said, a good team find a way to win.
A good team won't be an one-man team, rather they got depth to execute coach's flexible enough tactics.
Another bad JB game. Shot 25% from 3! No consistency. And Tatum shouldn't have been tossed. Those refs suck
Tatum needs to realize he plays in Boston. Fans will get on refs when needed. Egos just clash when you call out a ref so it’s a waste of energy for all and distracts him. We know he doesn’t get calls most stars do. It’s Up to media and fans to put pressure on the league
5 takeaways:
1. Cs were terrible in this game with the TOVs and lack of aggression driving to the rim with Embiid out.
2. Props to al for multiple defensive stops. Shot well and mostly made the right reads as well. Player of the game imo.
3. Shoutout to white and jrue for making clutch baskets. Jrue with a crucial stop and making his FTs.
4. that was a weak flagrant foul on JT. that was clearly unintentional. That was a weak tech as well. luka, lebron and draymond complains more than that and doesnt get techs. JT deserves more respect from the refs. the refs were "ready" to tech JT and get him out of there. Even Bill Kennedy, 1 of the refs, said post-game that JT didnt say anything wrong like cuss-words nor made any offensive gestures. JT was teched because he moved overtly towards the official after he was asked to move towards his bench. I expect that tech to be rescinded.
5. Cs played down to their competition with lack of pace and defensive aggression. How can you let beverley, melton, etc score those many points on good shooting? they didnt make them uncomfortable when they should without embiid and maxey.
