[Laskaris] Scottie Barnes was asked today about how the #Raptors assist numbers have jumped up this season (from 23.9 per game, 23rd in the NBA, to 28.1, 4th in the NBA): “We’ve got a lot of unselfish players on this team… we know we’re going to have to play together in order to win.”

  1. He’s growing into the leader this team always needed, a guy who plays unselfishly and isn’t concerned about how his stats are looking. I still believe Nurse was checked out and let FVV basically do whatever the fuck he wanted.

What’s great about Scottie was even when he was drafted he always emphasized that he’s all about helping out his teammates and finding good looks for them. Now we just need some more shooters and to improve the bench. Even against the Knicks, our starting lineup stacks up against theirs, but the problem is when they have Quickley, Divencenzo and Hart coming off the bench it’s really tough to deal with. Those 3 guys could start on many teams in the league. It’s the same reason why the Magic are playing great, their depth is just ridiculous. They can throw Joe Ingles and Gary Harris out there along with Mo Wagner and Cole Anthony and their team doesn’t miss a step. The Raptors should look to get Bogdanovic on the Hawks, or even Isaiah Joe on OKC. We need some more high energy, crafty shooters.

  3. meanwhile players are missing open shots and not catching passes. Scottie should be averaging a couple more assists than he currently does.

  4. Still leaves my head scratching about Pascal. All-NBA, looking for a max contract, and wants the ball in his hands. But feels like he has no interest in leading the team. Big ups for Scottie stepping up.

  5. Scottie’s media training is impeccable

He is just a class act at all times in front of the camera and with press

To do that at 22 years old is genuinely amazing and on top of that he is an unreal player

I thought at peak his career he would be getting here maybe in 6 or 7 years but his ascension has been unreal

Jack is right it is very mcgrady like

Buuuuut I was told a coaching change wouldn’t turn this around. We need some mf shooters one way or the other.

  7. That is the basketball we need to be playing. Great to see.
