10 years ago today, the Raptors after starting the season 6-12 traded Rudy, Araon Gray, and Quincy for Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, John Salmons, and Chuck Hayes. They proceeded to then go 42-20 and set a franchise record in wins.

This was probably Masai’s best/most impactful trade other than Kawhi/Demar switch(still remember Rod Black announcing it before they beat the Lakers in LA in Kobe’s first game back from his ACL injury).
At the time this was basically the Raptors trying to tank for Wiggins. But, what it actually did was not just let Demar/Kyle/JV/T-Ross have an opportunity to actually have a chance to run an offense(if people think FVV was bad Rudy banned box scores from the locker room cause of how bad his FG% was).
But, Vasquez and Patterson were solid bench guys that gave the team depth for years. And eventually led to getting an even better player in Norm down the road. Sometimes getting assets for star players instead of trying to do some type of star for star plus filler can be the best move.
