  1. “and then i wasnt that much into analytics and numbers”… “if someone presented it to me, explained it to me a bit better at that stage of my career. I think that would have made a difference”

wished this got expounded a bit. there was that report about how much influence Haralalob had at the time (ie over starting rotations/lineups), with the crux being him being terrible at communicating to people and Luka not getting along with Haralabob.

got reminded of that from Porzingis bringing up analytics and wishing someone communicated those things better to him back then

“Luka does that thing where’s he’s just mumbling out of anger and no one knows what he’s saying”

That got a laugh out of me

  3. jermainathon

On paper the Luka and Porzingis duo shouldve been elite, unfortunate that certain things got in the way of it reaching that status.

  4. kingofgamesbrah

I’ve always given props to people who take responsibility instead of deflecting blame.

    Good on you KP.

  5. Solid-Confidence-966

He gave the same type of answer with us, I wonder if there’s more to the story then he’s letting on.

  6. aviatorbassist

Luka is a far better player than KP and KP should have been more willing to fall in line with playing around Luka. On the other-hand KP has more freedom on offense as the third guy with Boston than he did as the second guy in Dallas. He’s also having his most effective season this year.

Dallas fans were not happy about this one lol

  7. SirGingerbrute

Damn KP really bulked up since he was a Knick. I wish things worked out but it seems like he really found his role as a Solid/Elite Starter but not year-in year-out All-Star like I thought he’d be

  8. I remember lots of ppl saying them being European means they’ll automatically like each other and shit lol

  9. thinking_better

Kristaps is going to be asked about this until he’s 80.

  10. DrLyleEvans

Insane to hear him say nobody explained analytics to him when Haralabob was working for Dallas,

  11. conzcious_eye

JJ be having some of the best interviews and guests. I think he’s number 1. I don’t see no one as consistent and his range of guests seems unlimited.

But it seems Kris response was genuine along with him having some accountability.

  12. Backwards-desserts

I’m more salty that it didn’t work between Luka and Rick.

Carslie is several tiers ahead of Kidd as a coach.

  13. ChiefSoldierFrog

It’s genuinely impressed the amount of foreign players in the nba that adapt the English language super fast learn all the slangs and what not and the accent. KP can pass as an American. Hedo Turkoglu speaks like a brother and Yao to an extent. Jonas Valanciunas and Sengun came to the league with little to no English and look at them now.

  14. StefonDiggsHS

Again Luka+Porzingis did work. for the few times KP was fully healthy. JJ says “besides health….” when health was like 90% of the problem, you cannot ignore this

The shit about Harlabob tho is totally warranted, that degenerate damaged our team in so many ways we are still seeing the effects of that dumbass

always wish the best for KP, he was a great player for us when he played and seems like a great dude. He got shit on by media and dumbass fans and he always handled it with maturity.

I will always root for KP

    > Hey Luka stop being a baby

This could’ve been way more hilarious/went viral if JJ didn’t deliver this in the worst way possible

  16. ChocolateTremell

Is “young bull” white term for “ hatin “

  17. i_will_mull_it_over

“young bull, like a pissing contest” what

  18. FranklinRichardss

Health was the main problem. and also Porzingis’s ego i guess become a problem at some point.

  19. Bulky_Accountant_446

They were a decent ass team; idk what else one would really expect, health/durability and skill wise its not like Porzingis is a number 2 on a championship team.. its not some great “what if” to me at all

  20. ilickedysharks

Luka porzingis worked. Besides injury, the problem was KP couldn’t reliably score against the 6’8 wing defenders when the Clippers would switch the PnR

  21. CdnDutchBoy

Vince and Tracy 2.0. That’s the org’s fault. Coaching to the gm. Clda, shlda, wlda. Tough gig to have to 2 young superstars in the making.

  22. Supper_Champion

My biggest takeaway from this is how much Kristap’s english has improved. His accent is now minimal, and I think back to when he was drafted and how strong it was and how he would stumble over words.

Kind of crazy how natural sounding his english is now.

  23. d00deitstyler

“What’s there a young bull issue with you and luka?”

    “What is young bull?”

    “A pissing contest”

Follows a euphemism with a euphemism when explaining a euphemism to someone who’s second, maybe even third or fourth, language is English. Good shit lmao

Good interview and great insight, professionalism, and reflection from Kristaps
