Mikal Bridges on when the Nets approached him in the offseason about signing Dennis Smith Jr :

“I watched him play winning basketball on a team that wasn’t winning. I know a winning player when I see one. They asked me about him, and I’m like ‘hell yeah'”

Didn’t expect much from signing DSJ, but I really see his value now. Every team (whether they’re contenders or not) need that dawg. And DSJ is that dawg.

I remember his defensive plus minus being up there with Caruso last year. Didn’t see that type of player the first few games, maybe injury related, but he’s been a menace these last two. That hounding point of attack defense on guards was really missing on our team.

  3. Cool that the FO checked in with Mikal about potential free agent signings

Really demonstrates their trust in him being the franchise guy

I remember watching the last game against Charlotte last year and being really impressed by DSJā€™s defensive intensity. Then some podcasts I listened to were also impressed by the defensive effort. Then the Nets signed him

All in all I was happy then, and am happy now. Iā€™m glad the team signed him (I just wish the man could shoot lol)

Players like DSJ are what we needed when guards like Ish freakinā€™ Smith would kill us .
