Getting more comfortable every game

I wasn’t worried at all but I’d be lying if i said Scoots start wasn’t slightly concerning. He has grown into the game so much better now and looks a lot more composed.

Still a long way to go but the signs are there. He can get to his mid-range and the stroke looks good. If he can finish at the rim and become a respectable 3 point shooter, we’ve got a PG for the future.

I have a hunch scoot will be a Sharpe type where he blossoms late into the season and roars next year. Thats totally fine, considering our goal is to win the draft.

I had been hearing reporting that some advanced defensive metrics have graded Scoot as an elite defender so far. I always take those metrics with a heavy grain of salt, but last night he really passed the eye test for me on that end of the floor. Dude is a dog. It’s incredibly rare for rookies to even sniff at being competent defenders. That combined with his speed, size, and passing have eased some of my early concerns. He’s more raw that I expected, but his potential is sky-high.

  3. I don’t worry about him becoming a good player, I just question if the #3 draft spot was the right assessment of his potential.

  4. I’m just happy to see him do some things that he was billed to be good at like pushing the ball on a TD aat break and finishing at the rim. When he got the rebound and pushed it on 4 guys and got the foul at the basket it was huge to see

Anthony Mackie wants his royalties for Scoot stealing his look

It’s slow, and he started horribly, but I’m seeing more and more that I like each game (and less that makes me shake my head). He played pretty well against Golden State.

I think people keep forgetting that Scoot’s not a score-first guy. The things he’s supposed to do he’s doing pretty well for a rookie:

-Bringing the ball up and setting the offense

    -excellent passing and court vision

    -locking in on defense

The scoring is secondary. Shaedon and Ant are there to score. Scoot is a floor general who sets the pace and tone. He’s never going to be Dame and that’s totally fine.
