DESPITE all this, he is ranked **second** on his team in usage and touches. He averages 26 minutes per game. And what might be the most damning, his style of play forces him to take possessions away from SGA who is performing like a top 5-10 player this season.

That on-off number is baffling.
I just don’t see it at this point. He needs a change of scenery and we need an actual big so that Jalen can slide down to SG. Giddey and Dort together is one offensively limited player too many. The latter is at least still an elite defender.

SGA playing like an MVP and having a decent team outside of Giddey will do that for you.
That draft meme about his weakness being basketball is somewhat accurate.
He looks awkward doing anything that isn’t passing. Not super athletic, bad shooter, slow drives with no good countermoves.
Even before the potential off-court issues arose, he seemed like the worst fit among their younger players.
Could definitely see him being packaged in a deal for a new backcourt partner or stretch big that fits better with Shai
He isn’t a great fit with a team that really strives to be an upper echelon contender. He’s fine for them at this stage but if they ever get to point where they try to seriously contend he’s either gotta go or accept a significantly reduced role. You can’t have a guy who can’t shoot, defend, or score off-ball effectively playing 30+ MPG in the postseason or demanding the type of salary he probably will.

Those 2 minutes against the Rockets are 35 minutes in the playoffs. If he can’t play defense then he’s basically unplayable in a 7 game series.

Nobody on the sub can take constructive criticism to save their lives, it’s the worst hive minded Sub on reddit I swear. Giddey had two good seasons, playing on tanking teams that went 64-100, with inflated stats and very little of anything else on the team.
The thunder are literally one major piece and a role player or two away from having the: #1 seed in the west. And being possibly the best team in the NBA – you make one good trade and sign a vet or two and they have a legit shot to win the chip this year.
Sga, Chet, Dub, Dort, Wallace and Joe are a strong six man rotation with good roleplayers like Wiggins, Mann and J Will. Just one more big to help out chet, and so dub can play on the wing instead of against a PF.
It doesn’t have to be right now, but you really have to consider trading giddey, by the deadline or next offseason at the latest. The thunder aren’t supposed to have a title window this early – but they do. You really have to think about taking advantage of it. Because there’s no guarentee a freak injury doesn’t happen next season or a player doesn’t regress the year after that. But even something as simple as signing a pure rebounder to a vet min would do wonders. The thunder are getting outrebounded by 30 most games.
He’s struggling. Understandable given his personal situation and the fact that he’d getting inconsistent minutes.
I haven’t watched any Thunder games, so it’s hard for me to say, but I imagine that the addition of Chet and Wallace (who is shooting the ball well) has take a lot of looks away from Giddey as well.
He’s also bounced around the court. SF to PF and now SG.
I’m sure the team is reluctant to invest too much in him right now until things get cleared up.

as someone that’s watched every OKC game so far this season, he has missed a LOT of floaters/push shots directly in front of the rim, even when he has the height mismatch, as well as off of offensive rebounds.
those types of shots went in last year. we try to get him going early in games by getting him a few of those shots to make the opposing team respect his ability to beat the size mismatch and demand more defensive attention, but for some reason, he hasn’t been able to get the lid off the basket. so teams have been daring him to shoot jump shots since he can’t finish at the rim either.
if he could at least finish his floaters and layups like normal or at least at an average rate, this would be way less of an issue, even without a jumpshot.
He also fucks children, further lessening his value
I just wanna add that the second half of the twolves game is where this started. The wolves decided to switch Rudy onto him if noone was in the paint to guard. There’s a bunch of possessions where Rudy doesn’t bother closing out and as a result ruins the thunder offense. That’s why they scored half as many points in the second half. Finch has gotta get a little love for that half time adjustment.

Wow this is a good example of the eye test not always being accurate because I could swear seeing him score a lot of buckets consistently near the rim with sweet moves, especially that bank half-hook shoot from near the paint.

Yeah I realized this awhile ago, SGA and Jdub are way too efficient for Giddey to be taking that many touches away. Now add in Chet, another player who can score better while also being another passing hub and Giddey isn’t even redundant anymore, he’s setting them back

Giddey was overrated coming into this season, now with the stink on him with allegations and his decline in efficiency he may become underrated. Giddey is not likely to be as good as Frans Wagner or Sengun, but he’s probably a rotation player if he doesn’t go to jail. If OKC lost him for nothing, I think they are still in good shape.
