Are Raptor fans being unfairly critical of Schroder, Ujiri & Rajakovic?

Let us hold court on the Raptors 9-12 start as we break down the same old things; a stagnant offense, tags and charges of selfishness, lack of development, lack of decisions, lack of pick equity, lack of direction, lack of belief, and a lack of a serviceable point guard.

Are our standards too high?

Are our perspectives simply skewed?

Do we need to reevaluate the men in suits and shorts and re-examine why we expect SO MUCH from them in the first place?

Let’s talk about it.

  1. Honestly outside of this channel/community I haven't heard any criticism of Dennis, at least not among casual/non analytical fans. Many still don't notice how this journeyman has hijacked the offense at times at the expense of perhaps the best prospect in the entire conference.

  2. DARKO should've benched Schroder in the 4th quarter for
    playing badly. After all
    he cuts the min bench
    players when they
    underperform.
We pray for you so you
    will get healthy soonšŸ™

  3. Management is the problem. They gave up top 4 pick for Yacob. The disguise it as top 6 protected. Fire.
Sometimes its good to take one step back to go forward. Its about stats padding management instead of the close future

  4. I can't believe everyone who said 'this is just gonna be fred vanvleet 2.0' was right. Just like Fred, he has enough skill to contribute but poor selection and calling his own number takes more from the team than he gives, just like Fred he isn't getting punished for it. Just like Fred he's a media darling for one reason or another. The media cried over 'however will we replace fred šŸ˜¢' and I'm wondering if the team legitimately thought that too.

At least fred started passing when we got poeltl, isn't dennis' usage even higher than vanvleet's was? And Dennis has had poeltl, scottie after a leap, healthy otto, where fred didn't. I don't miss fred's finishing but it's not like we have a dunker in Dennis or even a consistent finisher at all.

The team must have known this about Dennis before they bothered to sign him. Why did they think it was a good idea to find a 'point guard' who loved the ball more than the guy who the fans hated for ball-hogging? Why did they hire his best friend to coach him?

  5. Rob, in an alternate universe somewhere out there, I hope you get the Erik Spolestra path to Raptor's coaching staff. These statistical analysis and insight are awesome.

  6. Did you see BR new top 50 list? They are using a new advanced analytic that is supposedly more accurate however it favors offense slightly more than defense. Fred at 47 Pascal at 38 Scottie at 30 Hal at 5 Shai at 2 Luka at 10 Tatum at 7. Take a look it's pretty good.

  7. Masaiā€™s famous quote ā€˜Our goal is to winā€™ used to hit different when the actions matched his words.

Before this season I said ā€˜I donā€™t care if we only win 20 games; as long as we see the young guys growingā€™. I was so optimistic, but itā€™s one thing to lose and think ā€˜oh well, theyā€™re young these are growing painsā€™ and itā€™s a whole different thing to witness this shit with 3 guys in their late 20s.

  8. Itā€™s BS they let dennis come in and take garyā€™s starting spot when we donā€™t even have a 2 guard! Build around scottie but 3 years in and still not letting him be a full time PG

  9. I am so sorry that you are feeling unwell. I hope that you feel better soon.Ā
You raise so many great questions regarding what is currently happening with this team.
Congrats on your mortgage payment ! Thank you Rob for the content you provide!Ā
    Always learn so much!

  10. Spencer Dinwiddie was the obvious miss in 2014 draft, his ranking was hurt by knee surgery. But at that draft range, should have been taken.

  11. Man I canā€™t survive these seasons without your Lives anymore. Feels like I enjoy these more than the games šŸ˜‚šŸ™ŒšŸ¾

  12. Only half way through so apologies if you cover my question.

While now Iā€™m questioning who we should even try to bring back, at what point do we worry not only about stunting development but also about nobody wanting to come back?

People keep saying ā€˜we have to sign OG or Pascalā€™ but if Iā€™m OG, why do I even want to come back? If Iā€™m Gary (who now Iā€™m not even sure about) Iā€™m pissed, unless thereā€™s a promise of a deal. What team is going to throw 20+ mil at him right now? This is probably going to cost him millions.

Who knows if we even want precious but if we do, why would he even want to come back? As soon as he started to look good last season they traded for poeltl and cut his minutes and he hasnā€™t developed at all.

Weā€™ve had the luxury over the last decade of being able to resign most players . Hate them or love them; I donā€™t see why any or the expiring players would even want to be here.

  13. Great Video Rob. I really enjoyed your analysis of the history of the tenure of Masai's job here. Would it be fair to say that on one end, Masai came in
to the job with all the fruits and labors of Collangelo already having gone through all the developmental stages of the players and acquiring a decent amount of assets for Masai to work with and thus his tenure in the beginning everything seemed to move lightning fast? But now, the Raptors are tread-milling as a 40 win team for a few seasons now and he doesn't have the same type of assets or flexiblity to make the same type of moves (which the fan base expects him to) while he refused to go into any type of full tank mode. I really never thought about his track record on trades has become a detriment to the team, thats a good analysis.

  14. Answer to your question, YES fans are being unfairly critical. Masai should be on the hotseat. He screwed this up with his actions particularly last last year. The players aren't to blame management is.

  15. Good insight in looking at a situation, Dennis, IMO was brought in as insurance, to help implement a new system he was familiar with, temporary pg before lea ing into Scottie as PG. Maybe a quick trigger cause you lost Fred.
Why is Otto not playing more? Is it to keep him healthy so he can be traded to a contender.
Dennis has affected OG's ability to expand his game. Trent is a better starter than bench player.
If Dennis was a low Usage player, and was more of a vessel in the ball movement, and getting the ball to right people and the right time. It would be better. But that's not who he is.
Dennis to the bench, Flynn to the deeper bench.
Whats the season plan, are we on course, if not what changes need to happen.
Or increase trade capital in Pascal, Otto, Dennis, and be patient til it happens.

  16. Masai genuinely is just bad at his job now and is tanking the franchise. Didn't trade OG for shaedon and hart. Didn't trade siakam for haliburton. Traded for a mid centre and overpaid him, signed Dennis the menace. Can we just trade masai man

  17. Dennis doesnā€™t fit our system whatsoever. He should come off the bench. He takes key touches away from siakam. Iā€™d rather see a Scottie/siakam bringing up the ball.
