If the lakers hit 3s would’ve been another 40 piece
Here from Laker Nation to give respects. This team has a great future with Tyrese.
This was a great experience for a young team. Beat the Sixers, Bucks twice and the Celtics get Smith back, this team will be ok.
Hield out rebounded Toppin.
Wild stat from tonight – There were 58 fouls called. Only two games have ever had more foul calls and they came in 1949 and 1952. Only three of the top 25 foul games have come after 1954.
Omg wish Jalen Smith was healthy—Myles was absolutely awful.
Size was a factor & Carlisle goes smaller🤦🏻♂️
Lakers-fan here, so much respect for the Pacers. They won't stay down, they won't give up, they will be a problem for the East-contenders come playoff-time. As long as you hold on to Haliburton and build around him, your future looks very bright.
The Pacers could not buy a bucket the last half of the 4th quarter. They went cold on 3 pointers. The Lakers kept scoring 2s during that time and took over the game. I counted 5 missed 3s in a row!
"Into the breach". We're soft in the middle. That hole will not be filled by one person. So that presents an opportunity for lots of our people to help fill that gulf. We have several guys who could do a little better. Become a little stronger. Our management also has the assets we need to jumble the pieces a little. It's just a matter of time before we lose a guard or two and pick up some size. We're still so young.
LeBron fan here. I’m more scared of what Hali brings to an offense more than I was with PG. and that’s saying something.
I’m a big fan of Nesmith after this tournament run. So much young talent on that team
They will get another chance, pacers got allot of upside
So refreshing to hear a team podcast that isn’t hating on the refs and the other team after a loss for an hour straight. Thank you sir 😂
Pacers fans thought they was gonna win? Just asking
Good anaylis but it begs the question where do we go from here? We are built for speed, not rebounding or length. If we would have been able to hit 3s we would have been in the game for sure, but it seems the length of the Lakers (and other teams like Toronto) disrupt us often from this game plan. What is the answer to this beyond just saying, make the shots..because it seems long teams can disrupt us? Overall a great ride and exposure for the Pacers strengths and for sure Ty but also exposed the Pacers weaknesses
It's ok. This was a good experience.
Ty🙏
As a Lakers fan, I just want to give you your props on an excellent breakdown of where the Pacers are and good podcast episode. Indiana is such a fun team to watch and, tonight, just got beat by a team that was a bit better than them. On any given night I could see it going the other way. Haliburton is special, but I do look at this team and feel like they are one very good/great wing player away from being great.
The Lakers present a specifically difficult matchup for the Pacers due to the size of Lebron and AD offensively and the size and length of LAs bigs and wings defensively.
Pacers is a pretender team. They will do great in the regular season games but collapse in any game that matters or the playoffs. Timberwolves is the same and Grizzles last two years. Lakers (who are not particularly good) spanked them.
Tony, would you get in trouble if you asked Carlisle what the hell Buddy Hield even does if he’s not hitting shots? If I had one question for him, I’d ask him why Hield plays 35 minutes a game
The Lakers played defense that what went wrong
As always, I love the coverage Tony! Thank you. I smile when I hear you ask a question in the media sessions, especially in this stretch with all the national attention.
As for the Pacers' success during the IST, from my uneducated perspective, I feel like a large chunk of the team's success came from staying out of foul trouble and not settling for threes when they didn't have to and/or weren't hitting. The benefits of staying out of foul trouble were three fold, it allowed the team to keep their fast pace, kept opposing stars off the foul line, and keeps the game plan in tact/players on the court. As for the threes, in close games lost, there have been a few times this year in clutch moments that I felt like we rushed into a quick three instead of attacking the paint and getting a higher percentage shot off. I didn't see this happening as much in the IST games. It felt like the pacers were able to chip away at deficits and then strike when the look was right. Obviously there is more to it than this, but outside of the typical talking points i felt like these were a few unsung factors in the Pacers' recent success.
The IST Championship game felt like the Pacers strayed away from these aspects. Key players were in foul trouble all night, LA recognized and continued attacking Turner. Additionally, even though the team was able to stay within striking distance most of the night with our own production at the foul line, threes weren't really hitting and we were unable to effectively attack the paint without getting caught up in LA's length/solid rim protection. Kudos to the Lakers on a well deserved win.
I love how Carlisle put it, "I'm disappointed with the result, but not the effort." It is a breath of fresh air to have meaningful basketball back in Indiana. Go Pacers.
Last night showed us: It’s time to make a splash and bring in a 2nd bonafide star for Hali.
As a Lakers fan, just wanna say this Pacers team is not that far off, maybe a piece or two away , but good game
If the refs didn’t give bs calls to the pacers this would have been a blowout
From a Bron fan, I think I found my new favorite player aside from Luka. I love Hali man, he is so good!!!!
Jackson making alot of hating ass Pacer fans look real stupid.
Hes still not filled out his frame yet. Hes fearless. Hes relentless. Athletic as hell.
Myles has been in foul trouble damn near every game this year but you never hear one peep.
If Jackson commits a couple fouls because he plays his ass off on defense thats all you hear about.
Pacers looked better with Jackson on the floor tonight. I know im now in the minority and have crossed over to the other side, but i think Myles has played well at times this year. I definitely wont argue with fans that disagree. Hes gotten on my nerves way way more in the past then this year.
This was A bad game though. A motivated Davis is a top 5 player in the NBA
Hey man why you look like your having a stroke at 9:55 😂😂😂
if AD plays like that almost impossible to beat the lakers
It's easy answer NBA wanted James to win it's all bullshit he sucked last year now all sudden he back to his old self bull why they not give Davis the mvp then lol NBA a joke
You do a great job, Tony. That's why we keep coming back!
as a laker fan u earned my respect and im subscribing
Respect for the Pacers. Reminds me of the Eddie Jones, Nick the Quick Lake show days. Young and fun to watch!
The reason why Benn thinks and holds the ball at times comes from a loss of confidence of trusting his instincts… that is also on coaching… as they should allow Benn to be himself and let him play free even… if he makes mistakes. He also had great intensity on his D against the Lakers. If Benn can play free and not think, Ball won't stick as much and he will be 20 PPG a game scorer.
😊
I always like hearing the opposing teams POV cuz it gives more insight into not only their teams key points but also a bit our own strengths and deficiencies.
Pacers are a good team and had a very impressive run. They can only get better from here, it was very beneficial for them to go across very strong teams with difference coverages to learn how Tyrese and the Pacers will potentially be attacked defensively. Keep up the good work.
Great analysis. As a Laker fan I am used to other teams media just saying "the Lakers cheated, that's why they won". That is barely an exaggeration. You were thoughtful and had great points.
I believe that a team's media atmosphere is vital for the long term success of a franchise. Stupid dishonest homers twist the expectations of fans making them think that a good player is great or that a player who is learning is bad all while ignoring the importance of less visible parts of the game fans pick up on this and demand the wrong things from management and in an insular city management makes decisions based on the perceptions that build up. I think your coverage will help your team and I hope that you gain prominence.
